Why did my Yorkie suddenly wobble and drag legs, then recover?

Poor guy. This breed is high risk for having a condition called a portosystemic (liver) shunt that causes unexplained neurological symptoms like this. Drunken walk (ataxia) is one of the symptoms we often see. I would highly recommend at least taking him in to your local vet for some baseline bloodwork to check his liver enzymes. The vet can also do a thorough exam of his ears and make sure there is no debris deep in the canal, which would not be visible without special instrumentation (otoscope) that your vet carries. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chichi. I recommend that she a veterinarian today if she is unable to walk properly. Dragging her hindlimbs can be a sign of severe back disease. If this is the cause and it goes untreated, permanent damage can occur. Her veterinarian will examine her and may recommend x-rays of her spine. Based on these results medications can be started if necessary. In the meantime, do not give her any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!

Bailey is an older girl, and these behaviors are signs of being sick. She could have kidney disease, diabetes, a pyometra (an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment), or even cancer causing her symptoms. These are certainly scary and concerning symptoms. I'm sure you are very worried about Bella as am I. I would recommend that Bella be seen by a veterinarian right away as the symptoms you report could be signs of something serious like low blood sugar. She is a tiny little dog and a Yorkie as well so there are some breed related issues that can cause similar signs.
