My Yorkie has wobbly hind legs and struggles with steps. Need X-rays?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | neutered | 10 years and 5 months old

My yorkie has recovered from tummy issue, but he is very wobbly in his hind legs and although he will run to the door when the bell rings, he is having difficulty hopping up his doggy steps. He will not go down them. Prefers to hop. Does he need xrays?

I would recommend a vet exam for all of her to assess why he's hoping. This could be from back pain, hip or knee problems. His vet may suggest doing X-rays depending on exam finding. I hope he's better soon! Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
