Unvaccinated puppy has bloody diarrhea. Is it parvo? What should I do?

You should get her to a vet asap her age and history of no shots could attribute the the blood to parvovirus. Hopefully it is a minor gastroenteritis but the chance of parvovirus is very real. Parvovirus needs to be diagnosed quickly and tratment instigated rapidly.

I would be very suspicious that your puppy may have contracted parvovirus. Please take her in to your local vet right away to get tested for parvovirus and also a fecal exam. If she has parvo she will need medicaitons from your vet, fluids and possible extensive care to get treat her conditon. Parvo is a very deadly virus in puppies even with treatment, but the pet has the best chance of survival the earlier you start treatment. Try offering her small amounts of Pedialyte non-flavored by mouth via syringe or small turkey baster to try and keep her hydrated. Puppies dehydrate very quickly when they are having loose stool. I'm sorry both your puppies are sick! I would be very concerned about parvovirus, especially since they are both having diarrhea. Parvovirus is highly contagious, and deadly. Even though they were vaccinated at 7-8 weeks, this one vaccine is not enough to incur fully immunity. It take three rounds of vaccines in order to incur full immunity. Other possible reasons include a severe GI illness, eating something rotten, or intestinal worms. Because of their age, the risk of parvo, and the fact that Bentley has had bloody diarrhea for three days, they both need to see a vet immediately. I would see if you can borrow money from family and friends, and I can give you some resources that may help you afford a vet. Hi. With these signs, we get concerned about parasites or parvo virus. It could be serious without treatment if parvo. I'd get the puppy checked out and tested for parvo and parasites. I would try to wean her from nursing or feeding off the moms regurgitation

I would be concerned with Parvovirus which is highly contagious and often fatal if not properly treated. Given the duration of thee symptoms, however, it seems less likely. I would want to ensure, once well, they get at least 3 DAP vaccines 3-4 weeks apart, plus rabies. Sometimes I will see blood in diarrhea from hemorrhoids from straining against soft stool. In this case, treatment for the underlying cause of the diarrhea will be needed. This could include some Metronidazole, a probiotic, and further deworming. In these cases it is usually a small amount of blood whereas with Parvo it is a large amount of very bloody, foul smelling stool.

Poor precious. Make sure she is eating about 5-6 small meals a day to help keep her blood sugar up. Since she is having vomiting and diarrhea I would really concerned about her getting dehydrated and weak. She could have something serious going on like parvo virus or a lot of intestinal parasites. I would strongly recommend to get her in to see your vet as soon as possible so they can test her for parvo and worms. They will be able to make sure she has the appropriate medicine to make her feel better and make sure she isn't getting dehydrated.

It could be parvo but it could also be other things. you need to take him urgently to the vet for him to get hospitalized and treated, if it is parvo his chances are not good at his age but if it is something else he could survive if he receives the correct treatment.
