My unvaccinated dog was exposed to parvo. Booster or full shots?

Because Snickers has had his vaccines, as long as they are up to date, he should be protected from parvovirus. By up to date I mean having regular boosters of the vaccine every three years. If it's been longer than three years since he had his last parvo vaccine, then there is a chance he could be susceptible to it. It would be safer to give Mocha another dose of parvo vaccine, about 3-4 weeks after the one she just had. That will make sure that she is fully protected and she is not any danger for the new puppy.

Parvo is actually a virus so antibiotics will not prevent it, and the antibiotics we use in dogs who are suffering from clinical parvo are treating secondary infections. I would get him in to have his shots as soon as possible (though he still won't be fully protected until he has had a full series of puppy shots, every 3-4 weeks until 16 to 18 weeks of age) so I would be very careful with the puppy in your house if you had a parvo positive dog. The risk is probably pretty low, but Lucy may not have full immunity for a couple of weeks after this last vaccine was administered. We booster this vaccine frequently to hopefully catch a dog during the window where antibody leftover from mom is declining and the puppy can make it's own immune response - this may have already happened, or she may be in the process of mounting this immune response now. If Lucy seems nauseous, if she is vomiting, or if her appetite is decreased I'd recommend seeing your vet right away.
