Why is my unspayed dog's belly growing with discharge and no appetite?

I am worried that Goose may be pretty sick. Intact female dogs can get a very serious infection of the uterus called a pyometra. Sometimes this will make their belly look larger when in actuality they are losing weight. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. First off, I'm very sorry your lost your grandmother! Please accept my condolences for your loss. I see that she isn't spayed, and I would be concerned Bailey could have a pyometra. This is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. It would cause her to not eat and have a swollen stomach. I highly recommend taking Lala to your local vet right away to have her checked out. The vet will want to do a proper exam and then next would be radiographs (x-rays) of her belly and bloodwork to pinpoint the underyling problem. Your vet will give Daisy a thorough exam, and then probably will want to do an x-ray to verify his diagnosis. Treatment is surgery to remove the uterus with all the pus contained. Antibiotics sometimes work, however that would only delay the surgery as she will have another uterine infection when she has her next heat. Please take her to your veterinarian ASAP.

To be safe, I would recommend you take her into your vet to make sure that her abdomen palpated (feels) normal, she does not have a temperature and that she is otherwise normal. Sometimes non-spayed females can get something called a pyometra (pus in the uterus) that can cause a tense stomach, vaginal swelling and discharge, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea etc. This can become a surgical emergency therefore, if Pomi is showing any of these signs, I would take her in sooner rather than later.
