My unspayed dog's stomach is swollen and she won't eat. Is it serious?

Sheena should be evaluated by a veterinarian right away! If her belly is swollen she could be suffering from bloat (stomach full of air), a GDV (where the stomach bloats and turns on itself) or she could have fluid in her belly or uterus (pyometra). I would take Bella into a vet immediately. I see that she isn't spayed, and I would be concerned that she could have a pyometra. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Please take her into a vet now.

I'm sorry to hear Daisy isn't feeling well. I would be very concerned about the abnormalities you are seeing with Daisy's belly. The growth in size could be due to an infected uterus (pyometra) as she is not spayed, a growth in the abdomen or fluid pooling in the abdomen (blood or other). As she is acting I'll, I would take her to immediately be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause of her issues.

I am worried that Goose may be pretty sick. Intact female dogs can get a very serious infection of the uterus called a pyometra. Sometimes this will make their belly look larger when in actuality they are losing weight. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Poor Saltay! I'm afraid it sounds like something is seriously wrong. Based on the symptoms you're describing here, I would be concerned that she may have a serious uterine infection called a pyometra - this is a life-threatening emergency that is unfortunately common in middle-aged and older intact females. If this is the problem, she will likely need emergency surgery to remove the infected uterus. Other possible causes of an enlarged stomach, weakness, and decreased appetite would include congestive heart failure, some type of cancer in the abdomen, or internal bleeding. I would strongly recommend taking Saltay to an emergency clinic tonight for an exam, as it may not be safe to wait until morning. The veterinarian there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

There are a few things that could be going on: 1. She could be having a false pregnancy. 2. She could be having a real pregnancy. 3. She could have a uterine infection - called pyometra. 4. She could have something completely unrelated to the reproductive tract. I think you should get her a vet for an exam. If she is pregnant you need to know about it so you can estimate when she may give birth. If she has a uterine infection this can be life-threatening and she needs to get treatment ASAP. A false pregnancy may or may not resolve on it's own. If it is something else, she needs the proper treatment. So, regardless of the underlying cause, she needs an exam. I hope this helps. This sounds very concerning and obviously Paris has a painful stomach. Since she is an intact female there is always a chance that she has a uterine infection which would need urgent surgery, ie her uterus would need to be removed. A uterine infection can be lethal. If she is also drinking more water than usual, if there is maybe some discharge from her vulva, this would be pointing to a uterine infection (pyometra). She could also be suffering from serious intestinal parasite infection, pancreatitis, liver disease and ascites. All these conditions are serious and your dog needs to be seen by a veterinary doctor. Unfortunately it is not possible to make a diagnosis just on the basis of "hard stomach". Paris will need a "hands-on exam".
