Why is my dog whining, shaking, can't walk, and has a growing belly?

I'm so sorry your pet is so ill. It sounds like Holly may have an infection. Bacterial infection causes pet to shake and be uncomfortable, they are also lethargic not eating and have a fever. You can certainly check her rectal temperature and if it is above 102.5 degrees Fahrenheit, then an infection is likely and she needs to see a vet. I see she isn't spayed so it is very likely she has an infection of her uterus (pyometra) which can happen at any time and can be life threatening if not treated quickly. I am very sorry to hear about your dog. What you are describing sounds like most likely a tumor. There are many different types of tumors. Two of the more common we see in this area are lipomas, which are fatty tumors and feel soft/squishy, and sarcomas which are firmer feeling. Unfortunately it sounds like this is large and causing her problems. She needs a visit to the vet's office to examine the tumor and see if it can be surgically removed. They may want to take an x-ray and may want to do what is called a "fine needle aspirate" to collect cells to try to identify the type of tumor before surgery.

I'm sorry to hear Daisy isn't feeling well. I would be very concerned about the abnormalities you are seeing with Daisy's belly. The growth in size could be due to an infected uterus (pyometra) as she is not spayed, a growth in the abdomen or fluid pooling in the abdomen (blood or other). As she is acting I'll, I would take her to immediately be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause of her issues.

Poor girl. She could have congestive heart disease, cancer, cushings disease or any kind of organ enlargement in her belly. I would recommend starting with a good vet exam and then possible radiographs and bloodwork to get her checked out and hopefully find the underlying cause for her symptoms. I would take Bella into a vet immediately. I see that she isn't spayed, and I would be concerned that she could have a pyometra. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Please take her into a vet now.

Yes, please take her in right away. This sounds like she is in a lot of pain. Dogs pant a lot and tremble when they are in pain. Since she’s not spayed she could have a uterine infection that can become life threatening, or many small dogs get intervertebral disc disease which can cause the symptoms you are seeing. They will need to do an exam and possibly lab tests or X-rays to get a diagnosis, then they can give pain medication and the appropriate treatment. Poor Saltay! I'm afraid it sounds like something is seriously wrong. Based on the symptoms you're describing here, I would be concerned that she may have a serious uterine infection called a pyometra - this is a life-threatening emergency that is unfortunately common in middle-aged and older intact females. If this is the problem, she will likely need emergency surgery to remove the infected uterus. Other possible causes of an enlarged stomach, weakness, and decreased appetite would include congestive heart failure, some type of cancer in the abdomen, or internal bleeding. I would strongly recommend taking Saltay to an emergency clinic tonight for an exam, as it may not be safe to wait until morning. The veterinarian there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.
