Why is my unspayed dog not eating, drinking lots, swollen, bleeding?

I'm wondering if Brownie is spayed or not. If she isn't spayed, I would be very concerned that this bleeding could be due to a pyometra. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment, and is a medical emergency. Even if she is spayed, it's still a medical emergency when a dog is bleeding a lot. She needs veterinary care now, and you have to take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

I would have Hennessey seen by a vet immediately. I would be very concerned that this heavy bleeding, lethargy, and bloating is caused by a pyometra. A pyometra is a serous infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment. Using a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, and x-rays, the vet can diagnose if she does have a pyometra and can treat her for it. Should she have one, spaying her is part of the recommended treatment. Please take Hennessey into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

This is very concerning as PU/PD (drinking and urinating more than usual) and not eating, especially in an older intact female can be a sign of a uterine infection , which in turn can be life threatening. I strongly recommend you have Darla examined by your veterinarian. Your vet will want to do some blood work and possibly x-rays to see whether her uterus is filled with pus.

Other possible causes of an enlarged stomach, weakness, and decreased appetite would include congestive heart failure, some type of cancer in the abdomen, or internal bleeding. I would strongly recommend taking Saltay to an emergency clinic tonight for an exam, as it may not be safe to wait until morning. The veterinarian there can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

With her being intact and having the discharge you are describing, I am particularly worried about a condition known as pyometra which is an infection within her uterus. While there are other possibilities, a pyometra is most likely. Unfortunately, this is not something that can wait until tomorrow. Please seek veterinary attention for Cagney as soon as possible tonight. If she does have a pyometra, her condition can go downhill rapidly without aggressive intervention.
