My unfixed puppy is visiting a spayed dog. Will he mount her?

Since they are both neutered, this behavior is likely caused by over-stimulation. It's not sexual, it's just an inappropriate outlet for being overwhelmed or overexcited -- think really tired toddler starting to throw things and hit his friends. I would recommend redirecting him to a toy or playing with you, or remove him calmly from the situation. You don't want to punish him for the behavior, but you do want to stop it.

The mounting is normal and they could even ‘lock’ but your male cannot get Hazel pregnant. I would however recommend to separate them when Haze comes into heat to make sure neither dog is injured trying to mate. I hope this helps.

Hello. He is just being a male dog. Even after neutering, some males may still try to mount females, but in his case, he is still strongly attracted to your spayed female. If you do not plan on neutering the male, keep an eye on the male as the female can get annoyed at him & you may have a fight on your hands. If your male is still quite young, he may mature out of this behavior as his instincts are very strong right now. Just keep an eye on him. This is a dominance behavior, more than a sexual behavior. Neutering does not make these types of behaviors go away - even some female dogs will mount other dogs! Rico is likely just playing and trying to assert his dominance and be "alpha" to the other dogs. It is likely your dog is doing this behavior to your brother's dog because they are around each other long enough for your dog to have the opportunity and maybe he feels comfortable with your brother's dog if they are around eachother frequently and is not fearful of your brother's dog's reaction or he really enjoys seeing your brother's dog which makes him extra excited. You can try to distract him with a game or toy before the behavior occurs to discourage it if this bothers you. Having him neutered may also decrease this behavior.
