How do I transition my puppy to Pedigree Starter Mother & Pup?

Awww...Simba is adorable. Any diet change should be done gradually over the course of a week to avoid vomiting/diarrhea that can come from a sudden diet change. For the first 2 days feed a mixture of 75% puppy and 25% starter...for the next 2 days feed 50% puppy and 50% starter...for the following 2 days 25% puppy and 75% starter and then finally 100 % starter if there are no gastrointestinal signs during the week. Prepare the PetLac according to the directions on the label. Pour that into the puppy food and soak until it is soft, then mix it up so your puppy can eat it easily. Ideally, a puppy should stay with the mother and litter until at least 8 weeks of age. Since your pup is so young, you will need to keep a close watch on her weight and condition. Weigh her daily to confirm weight gain. Keep her warm and dry. Have her examined by your veterinarian to confirm good health. She will need to be dewormed and you can discuss vaccines with the vet. I am unsure of what brands of food are available in India. You can visit the pet store and then post the brands in another question so we can recommend a good quality food for your puppy.

You may need to add water to the dry food to soften it up for her to eat. You can also add puppy milk to the food so she is familiar with the food. At this age Goofy is old enough to be on regular puppy food only. However, it may take him some time to transition from the cerelac to the kibble. I would recommend offering Goofy a mixture of both foods together for a few days. Once he is used to eating that, slowly start decreasing the amount of cerelac you are adding to the food. Doing the transition slowly will help him get used to the new food. Some other brands to try that are high quality food include Hills, Purina, Royal Canin, Eukanuba, and Iams. I hope this helps. Pedigree puppy food is fine to feed your puppy, but you don't have to mix it with water as he is old enough to eat solid food. That being said, it will do no harm to mix it with the water :-) He should eat three times a day, once in the morning, noon, and evening. Once he is six months old, he can be fed twice a day (morning and evening). I would feed him according to the instructions on the label, and divide it into three equal portions.

A pug that is younger than 6 months should eat a puppy diet to help her grow and get the adequate nutrients and vitamins she needs. Puppies and adult dogs have very different requirements in terms of calories, calcium, phosphorous, and other nutrients. As she gets older, ie in the 6-12 month range, it is OK to start mixing in an adult or all-life stages diet in with her food. Just be sure the total amount she is supposed to be eating based on what the bag says is appropriate. Eventually, once she is about 12 months, she should be on an adult dog food, for maintenance. I recommend consulting with Beanie's regular veterinarian to see what specific types of food they recommend for her! Top dog food brands include Purina, Hills Science Diet, and Royal Canin. Beanie should NOT eat a grain-free, vegetarian, or vegan diet, as these are linked with dangerous heart conditions and other growth related diseases. I hope this is helpful!

A puppy should get milk or an appropriate replacement until 3-4 weeks of age at which point you can begin to mix in some solid food. The milk can be used to make a slurry or gruel. The milk is gradually decreased until the pup is eating solid, dry food around 8 weeks of age.
