Is my first time using Vetco. Should I transfer records from previous vet?

Yes this is very important when transferring doctors. Your vet can either print the records for you to pick up or they can email them to your new clinic. Just ask the vetco you will be using which they prefer. That way the new doctor will know what to recommend for your pet at the visit. It's best to bring the medical records, because it will take a fair amount of time to get the records transferred at the time of the appointment.

One thing to do when requesting the medical records, is to ensure that they are not just giving you an invoice. The invoice will just list the services provided and will be of limited value. The medical records will have all the doctor's notes and be signed by the veterinarian.

Sure that is no problem to change locations. Just make sure you request that the initial clinic send his medical records to the new clinic. That way the new doctor can review his record prior to the visit so they know what vaccines he is due for. At your visit with the new doctor just verify they have the medical record so everyone is on the same page for what your pup needs at the visit. Does Petco offer initial vet exams for new pets to start insurance?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! I would call your local PetCo that offers VetCo to see if they will do this type of exam. Mist vaccine clinics only do vaccines and not exams or provide records past vaccinations. I would recommend that you find an established Vet for Piper. Do Petco vets need my dog's records for an exam? What's the cost?

It is definitely preferable to have records from a previous vet, especially if there are any ongoing medical conditions. Most vaccines are given once per year, so proof isn’t necessary unless it has been less than a year. Exams and vaccines vary in cost depending on your area. In my practice in New York City, they typically end up being about $100 for an exam and two vaccines. I hope this helps!
