How to train my puppy to stop biting me and chewing furniture?

Nala is a cutie!!! Chewing is a very common puppy behavior and it's hard to train them not to do it without constant supervision. If you go outside with her every time she goes outside, you tell her no or squirt her with a water bottle every time she starts to sniff/lick/chew on the wood. You should reward her with treats, praise or a toy if she ignores the wood. But you have to be out there every time. Otherwise she will continue to chew it. You can try applying something like bitter apple or make a pepper paste to apply to the wood but not all dogs dislike the taste. You can also cover the area some how so that Nala cannot get to it. Most dogs will chew until they are about 3 years old but they are all different and some never stop chewing. I hope this helps to point you in the right direction. Congratulations on your new puppy! It takes some time for puppies to figure out what behaviors are appropriate and which are not. I recommend praising and reinforcing the behaviors that you would like Arjun to do, such as laying calmly or playing well. Negative reinforcement, or gently punishing him for doing things he shouldn't be should eventually help to stop the behavior. For example, if Arjun is biting the furniture, tell him "no" sternly and redirect his attention to a toy. Or, if he is biting you while playing, stop playing and ignore him until he is calm. I would recommend keeping Nina off the furniture. She is seeing it as her territory and is defending it. Keep her to the floor and people on furniture at least until she realizes she's not the boss. I would strongly recommend basic obedience training classes as well to get a good behavior foundation. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would assume she is doing this to get his attention to play. Bella is young and needs a lot of exercise and interaction. I would add more walks or play time. Consider enrolling her in doggie daycare a few times per week. Otherwise I would have a leash on her at all times and when she starts this behavior, pull her down, make her sit and remove her from the situation. Consider 5-10 mins in "time out" in another room or crate. Then exercise her. I hope this helps!

I would recommend starting on some basic commands with Panda. This would include sit, come and stay. That way when Panda starts to chew on your feet you can re direct her into a basic command. I would reward her with a treat so he knows that the command is the way she should be acting, I would also recommend starting her in puppy training classes to help with her attention. Biting and mouthing during play and at other times including when you pet her, when you are walking, etc. is completely normal behavior for a puppy this age - this is how puppies explore the world, and how they instinctively want to play. I do not recommend scolding her for this or telling her "no!", as this often makes dogs more frustrated and worked up, and tends to make the problem worse. Instead, redirect her to one of her toys and encourage her to bite the toy instead. Make sure that she has a variety of different toys available to provide an appropriate outlet for this behavior - long floppy rope or fleece toys for tugging, plush toys for biting and carrying, and smaller toys or balls for chasing and fetching. She also needs lots of different things to chew on - bully sticks, rawhide chews, cow or pig ears, and puzzle toys such as a Kong stuffed with peanut butter are all good options you can try. This behavior normally resolves on its own as puppies get older, so there is no need to attempt to punish her for it - just redirect her to something more appropriate, and be patient while she learns :)
