I need to know the right Torbutrol dosage for my 40-pound dog

Hello. Ideally, the medication should be dosed 12 hours apart , 8 am and 8 pm, for example. If that’s not possible...try to get as close to 12 hours apart as you can. This medication can be given on an empty stomach, but since it can cause some GI upset, I would recommend giving food with it or giving it just after a meal. Currently our torb tabs have an expiration of 2019 which is only 1.5 years from now. It is very likely that are expired. Sometimes there is an expiration date on the prescription label on the container. If not I'd call for a refill. I hope this helps!

You should contact your vets office for a recommendation as we are not in a position legally to give out dosages. In order to do legally so we would have to have a patient-veterinarian-owner relationship with you. Your veterinarian also knows your dog and the potential risks for your dog receiving this medication.

The dose for a 20lb puppy would be approximately 25mg every 12 hours with a max dose of 50mg. 100mg would be too high of a dose but would likely not cause significant problems. A dog with too high of a dose of Trazodone may exhibit sedation, lethargy and incoordination when walking. I hope this helps answer your question. Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to give the dose information for any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Unfortunately you didn't provide your dogs weight so we can not give you doses. I recommend calling your Vet when they re-open. In the US it is not legal to prescribe medications with out a label and the medications not reconstituted (made in to a liquid from the powder form). Are you in the US? Also in the US we do not prescribe Acetominophen ( https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/tylenol/ ). I recommend calling your Vet regarding that medication as we can't recommend giving it to dogs.
