When can I stop wiping my puppy's paws to prevent coccidia?

Dogs can bring soil, bacteria and parasites from the outside so cleaning his paws at least would be a great idea to prevent any harm to the baby. Have a good night!

It seems your first sentence is missing a word in the middle, so I'm not sure what you'd specifically like to let your puppy do. However, it is fine to let Dak continue his normal activities, including socializing and laying around the house. The main precaution when you're treating him for Coccidia is to promptly clean up his stool outside - which is always recommended, but particularly important while a dog is being treated for intestinal parasites, to minimize the risk of contaminating the soil and reinfecting him or another animal. It is recommended to have your veterinarian recheck a fecal sample 2-3 weeks after treating to make sure Dak's coccidia have been cleared. Hope this helps!

Coccidia is transmitted via the fecal oral route so if there any surfaces that are contaminated with your pup's feces, this should be washed thoroughly and other dogs should be kept away from it. Coccidia are fairly common in puppies, and usually a stool check is recommended to make sure the treatment is complete. If Loki is not having diarrhea hopefully the coccidia infection has cleared. At 7 weeks he may be due for a DAP vaccine (distemper/adenovirus/parvovirus combo) depending on when he received his last vaccines. I often discuss starting the Bordetella vaccine at this time as well. Generally other vaccines are started a little later.

A visit at your local vets is recommended to make the definite diagnosis and to start treatment for Koda. In the meantime, try and stop Koda from licking the paws as he will likely make the skin more inflamed. Using a head collar or bandage the paws (and change the bandage daily) may be necessary.

Be sure to completely clean all areas where he has had feces or diarrhea. Otis important to clean the environment or reinfection is possible. Most coccidia is not contagious to humans but it can be in cas s if immune compromise or young children. Practice good hygiene and hand washing after handling the puppy should be adequate. What a brave girl! Pads sometimes do get abrasions or blisters from running on rocky, hot, or uneven surfaces. It looks like they are doing ok right now, but you do need to keep an eye on them. Put an Collar (cone of shame) on her so that she cannot lick them, and If she becomes more bothered by them, if she's favoring them heavily ("walking on eggshells), or if she starts to seem lethargic or isn't eating, get her in. All of those could be signs of infection. In the meantime, clean them daily with dilute betadine (available at any pharmacy) -- use a small bowl (1-2 cups or so) of water, and add enough betadine so that it looks like tea. If she will tolerate keeping her foot in that for a minute or so, great. If not, just use a gauze pad or cotton ball to clean the wound off with the butadiene solution. Leave them UNBANDAGED at this time, so that you can monitor them closely, and so that moisture doesn't get trapped which could increase the likelihood of infection developing. While I do think they should not be bandaged, DO use booties if you are going to be going for a long walk, etc--ideally, though, avoid exercise on rough, rocky, uneven surfaces until its healed.
