How to stop my dog from licking my child's face, ears, and lips?

I'm not sure I understand your questions completely. If you are asking why the dog licks your son's ear or face, that's' just what some dogs do as part of general grooming. Ear licking between dogs is a normal grooming behavior dogs who are within the same family or pack do to one another. However, if you notice Charlie is doing this to one of your other dogs in the household more frequently to the point where it is starting to become obsessive, this can be a sign of a behavioral problem. It is possible Charlie wishes to lick the other dog's eat due to an ear infection in the dog, so you might want to have ears examined by a veterinarian to rule this out. However, next time you notice Charlie doing this to another dog in the house, get his attention immediately with another activity like an interactive toy or a session of play time. Try and do this consistently for best results. If however behavioral intervention is not working well and ear infections have been ruled out, it is possible Charlie may have an obsessive compulsive disorder that may require Rx medications from your veterinarian. There are things you can do to deter him from this behavior such as bitter apple spray and apply it to the area on your body that he licks the most. I would also consider using a spray bottle filled with water and when he does this behavior, spray him in the face and say "off!". These two techniques worked well for my dog when he was exhibiting the exact same problems and has worked well for other clients of mine that I have recommended these techniques to. Over time, this Behavior will likely resolve or greatly reduce. you can try and apply bitter apple to the areas where Preston likes to lick and see if this helps deter her from doing this behavior. You can also use a spray bottle filled with water and lightly Spritz Preston in the face whenever she licks you and say “off!” while spraying her. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. It can be normal for a dog who was otherwise the center of attention before the baby arrived to be a little confused and perhaps uncertain of the new member of the family. Suddenly there is something new in the house that cries and makes strange noises! This can be unsettling for a dog who has never encountered a new born or a baby before. The good news is, she will get use to it and adapt. It sounds like she already is as evident with the licks on the arms and legs. I would be more concerned about the germs than a dominance problem. If she is licking without biting you can allow as much as you want! It’s a good idea to wash your hands or face afterwards, and if you have any health issues check in with your physician.
