How to stop my dog from jumping the pool wall and chasing wildlife?

I highly recommend walking Scooby on a leash to go outside. I would also make sure that Scooby is microchipped. There isn't much you can do to stop him besides this from jumping over the fence. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

I would recommend using a spray bottle filled with water and every time Woody barks, spray him in the face and say "off!". I would also recommend using a citronella collar, which can help deter Woody from barking. Jumping on people I would use the same technique with the spray bottle and even something loud such as an empty can filled with coins that you can shake loudly at Woody to stop the behavior. This is a very frustrating behavior to have to deal with. Sometimes invisible fence works. Other times a tie-down or run system is effective. Another solution is do you have a trainer work with you and your dogs in your home to address this issue. Punishment is a tricky method as it has to be done immediately after the behavior in order to be effective as well as it could backfire and cause aggression.

Hello, potty to hear about your pup. Theres likely no specific reason as to why she is wanting to be outside. She is likely leaving out of curiosity and stimulation, not necessarily to mate, but also due to different smells and other animals. Your dog likely enjoys her time outside her house and wants to continue to explore, this could be hazardous to her of course so your concern is understandable. There are multiple products to prevent this behaviors such as a shock fence, however these may also cause some pain and discomfort. You can try to fulfill her curiosity with longer more frequent walks then at home keep the doors close so that she does not leave. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If that doesn't work, contact Animal control and find out how you can legally (if owned) prevent them from entering your yard or have them come and capture the cats (strays or ferals). You can also purchase noise deterrents that are turned on my motion. Maybe over time the cats will avoid your yard if they find it "scary." I wish you and barney the best!

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. This is a very common behavior in puppies. Leash correction will help correct the behavior. Keep a leash on him and when he attempts to bolt out the door, give the leash a firm tug and tell him a command such as "sit". Have many treats handy and give him a few treats when he listens and sits. If training is not going as planned, you can use an electric collar and whenever he goes near the door, you can apply a low voltage shock to deter the behavior. I hope this helps! Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like Toffee may not know his boundaries well, and assumes he can run everywhere once he's outside. I recommend training him on a leash to show him where his boundaries are. For example, walk him on a leash around the perimeter of your property, and never beyond. You can make him sit at the edge of your property, and give him a treat. Do this at multiple points around your property. Since he has run off before, he may not learn the true edge of his property. The safest thing to do is to take him out on a leash and not let him run freely. He is otherwise at risk of getting lost, or even hit by a vehicle. I hope this is helpful.
