How to stop my dog growling in our bed and use her own?

It is not uncommon for dogs to develop such jealous type behaviors and it is important to recognize the potential dangers in such a situation. A calming diet or supplement can help and i recommend you create a separate area, indoor crate or kennel that she can use with chew toys, beds and food /water. Practice when you are home alone initially and then put her in before people call if possible. If she is calm enough, get the other person to feed and walk her also so she has a more positive association

I suggest blocking off your bed so that Oli doesn't have access to it for a few weeks. At the same time have a nice, comfy bed for Oli in the same room. You may also want to offer Oli a Kong stuffed with peanut butter or spray cheese so that can distract him in his bed. My concern is more that he growled at you when you tried to get him off the bed. Some dogs begin to feel they are our equals when they are on our level, such as on the couch or in the bed. If he is becoming “bossy” or obstinate, then I would recommend keeping him off the bed. Also, if you need to get him off the bed then entice with a treat, or have a leash on. I would not allow Simba on the bed until your husband is in the bed OR Simba isn't allowed in the bed at all! the second is my recommendation. This is unacceptable behavior and should be taken seriously. Growling may lead to biting and that is not acceptable. You can also have a light leash on him so that you can pull him from in between the 2 of you to prevent a bite. Personally Simba should be removed from the bed permanently and trained to sleep on a bed on the floor or trained to sleep at the bottom of the bed. I wish you the best!

Once you put her to bed for the night in her bed, not yours (be sure all of her needs have been taken care of), do not do any more for her. No matter how much she cries, whines, etc., ignore the behavior completely. Not even one little "NO!" By all means, do not bring her into your bed or get out of it and stay beside her. You may find that she gets even worse, but that is actually a good thing! It means that she recognizes that there's a new sheriff in town, and she's not going to run things anymore. She will probably make a last-ditch effort to try to get you to do the things you were doing for her. DON'T GIVE IN! The easiest option would be to put his dog bed in a crate and train him to sleep there - this way, you can close the door of the crate to keep him where you want him to be. Otherwise, there's really no way you can keep him from choosing to sleep someplace else. To train him to sleep in the crate, just put him in at night when it's time for bed (in your bedroom, ideally) with a special chew toy or long-lasting treat like a Kong stuffed with peanut butter, or a bully stick or pig's ear to encourage him to settle down and relax. Most dogs adapt to this nighttime routine very readily.

You can try placing the crate in your room as some dogs are happier when they are near you. Others will find this frustrating and want to be out and in your bed. In this case, try leaving the crate downstairs. Make the crate a happy place for her wothbspecoal treats and toys. Never use it for punishment or time out. You can place her in there for short intervals during the day as well to help her become accustomed to it. It may be a tough transition as she will still protest a bit.
