Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The Science diet sensitive skin and stomach is quite good. I really like all the Nylabone products. I find that dogs really like them and they are fairly inexpensive. They also seem to help with cleaning the teeth a bit. Have a good day!

There are treats that are specifically made for sensitive stomach here in the US, but I'm not quite sure what is available in the United Kingdom. I do know the treats made for sensitive stomach are not easy to find in your local pet supplies stores.

I have many clients with animals with sensitive stomachs, food allergies, or IBD who have questions similar to yours. What I tend to tell them is to ditch the commercial treats and feed fresh fruits and veggies to your dog as a snack or a treat. A couple baby carrots a day make great treats as well as green beans! sliced applies and berries like blueberries make delicious snacks as well that are healthy and also good for their teeth!

Of course too much of anything (even a good thing) can be a bad thing. Too many fruits and veggies can cause diarrhea, so I would limit the amount of these you give to Ziggy daily.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Being a smaller dog, he May not necessarily be getting bored with his kibble. Smaller dogs can be quite picky and selective about what they eat. Especially if they've already been introduced to flavorful dog treats and/or people food. For itchy skin I like Natural Balance LID (Limited Ingredient Diet). The Organix wet food you fed may have been the 3.5oz stew bowl and those may be too rich for Cookie. So you could try just the 12.7 oz cans instead of go with Natural Balance LID dry and wet.

I'm sorry to hear Winston is having these issues! A good first step is to schedule a vet visit for him to rule out any underlying conditions that could be causing his symptoms in addition to food. Your vet can also work with you on a food trial if it is suspected that a certain ingredient is the cause for the problem. For general sensitive stomach/skin, Science Diet has a formulation that addresses both. You want to make sure to gradually change the diet over a period of 7-9 days to avoid additional stomach upset, gradually adding in more of the new food. It can also take up to two months for a food trial to see results.

What are the best dog and puppy food and treat brands to buy?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center! I personally like the Purina Pro Plan diets as well as the Hill's Science Diet foods as I think they are both palatable and highly nutritious. My dog won't eat and has tummy issues. What food helps digestion?

Just like you pointed out, there are many different diets in the market to the point that it is hard to decide which one is best for patients. For any concerns on digestion, I prefer a veterinary prescription diet called Purina EN which is easily digestible and at the same time very good in terms of nutrition. It is also palatable and most dogs seem to like it. Alternatively, you could consider another diet which is the Hill's id which is similar to the Purina EN though in my experience it is not as palatable and some dogs will not eat it. Your veterinarian would have to write up a prescription for this diet. Good luck and have a good night!

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear that Bambi is having digestive problems. Since so many things can cause digestive upset, I would advise that you have Bambi evaluated by your veterinarian. They can perform a physical exam, look at a fecal sample for signs of intestinal worms, advise blood tests, or even more specialized tests to assess the intestinal tract. Imaging studies such as X-Ray, Ultrasounds, or even an endoscopic exam with a special instrument to look inside of the stomach and intestinal tract. Possible causes include dietary indiscretion (eating things she shouldn't), intestinal worms, food allergy, pancreatitis, other internal organ problems, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. Once the problem is determined, your veterinarian can recommend the appropriate food. They may even suggest a bland diet for a while to see if the problem improves. I hope you can take Bambi soon so that both of you start feeling better.

You can try the duck or fish to see if Sadie likes that better, but do the food switch slowly over the course of two weeks to prevent further GI upset. Royal Canin has a sensitivity controlled food (Royal Canin Sensitivity Control) that may work for her as well. I hope this helps!
