Best canned food for small dogs with gas and sensitive stomachs?

I find that dogs really like them and they are fairly inexpensive. They also seem to help with cleaning the teeth a bit. Have a good day!

I love Natural Balance and am really surprised that it caused an upset tummy. As far as flavor goes, most of my patients like the venison and sweet potato the best. If she has skin allergies you want to stay away from the chicken and beef as most dogs are allergic to these. You could try Fromm's which is a little more expensive but a good food. Another option is to do a hypoallergenic diet that is prescribed by your vet. Always slowly mix the old food with the new food to help transition. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Tater-Tot (great name!) I am sorry that she is not doing well. It is hard when senior dogs stop wanting to eat the food that agrees with them the most. Since she has a sensitive stomach and likes the stews, I would ask your Vet about Hill's i/d stew. It is prescription but it is an intestinal diet so she may tolerate it better. Also Weruva makes a human grade canned food called Funcky chicken that is human grade. Looks like chicken soup, I have heard that 90% of dogs that don't want to eat will eat that. I wish you the best

That is why I recommend diets made by companies like Royal canin, Purina and Science Diet as they have extensive research on these diets to confirm that they are a good all around diet for a dog. Since Cash is a small dog, you might consider one of the more expensive options such as a dehydrated or fresh food diet. They are able to control their ingredients much more easily than a large manufacturing plant does that makes dry food. I have been very pleased with The Honest Kitchen ( https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/ ) and Just Food For Dogs ( https://www.justfoodfordogs.com/ ). Both have foods that will not have chicken and both have options without any poultry. You do not have to worry about the potential addition of chicken fat which a number of dry food companies do as well. If those are not good options for Cash, then you may consider a canned food which again will generally be safer than a dry food at making sure there isn't any chicken contamination. Since so many things can cause digestive upset, I would advise that you have Bambi evaluated by your veterinarian. They can perform a physical exam, look at a fecal sample for signs of intestinal worms, advise blood tests, or even more specialized tests to assess the intestinal tract. Imaging studies such as X-Ray, Ultrasounds, or even an endoscopic exam with a special instrument to look inside of the stomach and intestinal tract. Possible causes include dietary indiscretion (eating things she shouldn't), intestinal worms, food allergy, pancreatitis, other internal organ problems, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. Once the problem is determined, your veterinarian can recommend the appropriate food. They may even suggest a bland diet for a while to see if the problem improves. I hope you can take Bambi soon so that both of you start feeling better.
