Is my 12-week-old sheepadoodle puppy having vision problems?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Polly isn't running in to things I am sure she can see. Young puppies tend to have poor focusing skills until about Polly's age. Usually by 7 weeks their vision is fully developed. I am hoping that Polly is trying to adjust to her new surroundings and in a short time you will notice improvement. Play and interact with her. She will need a Vet appointment soon for her vaccines (3 weeks from the last vaccine given by the breeder or if the breeder hasn't started vaccine you need to bring her to a Vet sooner to start the DHPP series) and if you are still concerned about her vision have them check then. Oh my goodness, Dino is so adorable! I don't know if this is a huge problem or not. I suggest you get him to your vet for an exam sooner rather than later. Based on your description I would be worried he is having issues with his vision. I can't see anything outwardly abnormal with his eyes just by looking at the photos but that doesn't really mean anything. Your vet will need to use an ophthalmoscope to check inside the eyes and do some vision testing. I don't think it is an emergency but I would try to get him an appointment as soon as you can schedule it. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Sadly, many of the ailments of human senior citizens can also occur in our canine companions. Impaired vision or blindness can occur in dogs and can be due to things like cataracts, glaucoma, etc. The good news is that these diseases, if caught early enough, can be treated and sometimes even reversed or cured! My best advice is to take Baby to your local veterinarian as soon as possible to have a complete ophthalmic examination performed. Vision will gradually improve to adult capacity over the next several weeks. You can gauge your puppy's vision by throwing a cotton ball into the air and watching his/her response. A puppy with normal sight will watch the hand motion, then the cotton ball as it falls to the floor. Do this silently as sound may distract the puppy. If your pup fails to spot or follow the cotton ball, see your veterinarian or a [veterinary ophthalmologist](https://www.acvo.org/) for a complete eye exam.

Puppies do sleep quite a bit, so as long as she has a good appetite & there is no vomiting or diarrhea, then she will be fine to wait for your appointment where she will receive a good exam to make sure she is perfectly healthy.
