Why is my senior dog walking sideways, hiding, and lethargic?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male

I'm not sure if my dog is sick or not. He seems to be trying to hide, he seems to be laying on the floor behind everything. He walks sideways whenever he does walk, and isn't as energetic as he sometimes is. He is 10 years of age.

Walking sideways isn't normal. It can indicate brain dysfunction, inner ear infection, or major organ dysfunction. I would recommend that you have Dioji examined by a vet. The vet will do a thorough physical and neurologic exam, and may recommend blood work to see what is going on.
