My old chihuahua walks in circles, whines, and seems disoriented. Why?

Poor Gizmo. He could have an ear infection, vestibular disease, or possibly a tumor. He should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He may need an antibiotic or other medications to help. Hope he feels better soon!

Poor Bella! Repeated circling behavior can be a sign of focal seizure activity in some dogs, or could be due to a brain tumor or anxiety. After seizures some dogs experience a post-ictal phase, which can result in lethargy for a period of time. Regardless of the cause, Bella's behavior is not normal and should be evaluated by her veterinarian to try to get to the bottom of this issue so that proper treatment can be started, if needed. This could indicate anxiety or pain. If she has a head tilt or unable to lay down without flipping over, or non-responsive to you when she is like this, then I would be more concerned about a neurological problem and she needs to see a vet ASAP. But if she is willing to stop to eat or drink and responsive to your voice then I would monitor her closely, rest her for the weekend (don't let her run, jump or play) and contact your vet Monday if she is still showing symptoms. I would not recommend to give her any human pun meds as most of these are toxic to dogs. I hope this helps!

What your are describing are vestibular signs, although hit could be caused by head trauma, it's more likely to be either a severe ear infection or a brain disease (possibly a tumor). I would recommend you to take Moxie to the vet ASAP.

Since I am unable to examine Tia, I would have her examined by your veterinarian to ensure this is nothing serious. If she is acting strange, she could have had a seizure or may be about to have seizure. Certain systemic illnesses may also exhibit similar symptoms. These types of behaviors could be caused by pain, anxiety, internal medical issues, cognitive dysfunction from old age, seizures, etc. Without seeing a vet, it is hard to tell what could be going on and I can't really make any specific recommendations. If not, this may be indicative of an inner ear infection, or more seriously, a brain lesion. You should have Snickers evaluated at your earliest convenience to diagnose the cause of this behavior.
