My senior dog has tremors. What food helps with neurological issues?

If the tremors are constant, T should be examined by your veterinarian. There could be a neurological cause. If it happens only when he eats, there could be periodontal disease or infection that is causing pain when he chews. A discussion regarding the dietary issues can be had once the tremors have been diagnosed. For now, consider feeding as bland a diet as possible. The vet may provide i/d which is a Hill's prescription diet that is highly digestible and easy on the GI tract.

That is very odd. Certainly pets can have a seizure in response to a stimulus but it would be unusual for it to be something more subtle like paper crinkling. If he has a bad back or a neuropathy and he is trying to move too quickly, it could mimic a seizure type activity. If you can capture it on video to show the veterinarian, that may help a lot. If the doctor has not checked his proprioception and his back, have this done. If seizures are still suspicious, you may try the new Purina diet for seizures called NeuroCare. Omega 3 fatty acids for dogs can help with inflammation as well and this may be beneficial. Lastly, there are medications for seizures as well. This depends slightly on the underlying condition - some dogs with liver disease do best on a specialised liver support diet such as royal canin hepatic or hills l/d. If epilepsy is the underlying cause, purina nc neurocare is showing some very promising results

I recommend Hills b/d diet and you can give the supplement senilife. It’s specifically for cognitive dysfunction in dogs. Anapril is a prescription drug for cognitive dysfunction that I’ve used on my geriatric dogs with good results. You will need to get this from your veterinarian.
