My senior dog is peeing blood, straining, and tired. Is she in pain?

The blood could be coming from the tumor itself, or sometimes dogs with tumors are more likely to develop urinary tract infections. If she is also straining to urinate it may be that her quality of life is beginning to be affected. Before you make any decisions you should recheck with your vet. They could check her urine for bacteria and can also discuss what signs to look for that might indicate it is time to consider euthanasia.

It sounds like Lucy is in pain, poor girl! Yelping, lack of appetite, and decreased movement are all signs of pain in dogs. It's very possible she sprained or strained something, like her back or a limb, and this is her way of telling you. I'm glad the Cosequin seemed to help her, but in general, Cosequin is not a pain reliever; it's a joint supplement that provides nutritive support to cartilage, joint capsules, and joint fluid, and it's an excellent product, so I do recommend you keep Lucy on this consistently. However, I think she needs some more aggressive pain management and a check-up with your vet to make sure she hasn't seriously injured herself. Especially if her back is painful, as that can sometimes involve pinched nerves. If she has a history of bladder stones and is having inappropriate urination, that definitely needs to be evaluated as well. When you go in to have her pain assessed, bring a urine sample with you for your vet to check. It may be something as simple as a urinary tract infection or it could be a recurrence of bladder stones, but it's worth getting checked out. Good luck and I hope Lucy feels better soon!

You can speak to the vet about prescribing pain medication for Sadie to see if that will help her be more comfortable, but if she is really bad off like you describe, letting her go peacefully would be the kindest option for her. I know you aren't ready, we are never ready to let our beloved pets go, but we do have to put their interests over ours. You don't want her to suffer, and letting her go would be a great gift for her. I'm sorry you are facing this :(

Diarrhea can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Peach evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. Poor Snic! Frequent urination with blood at the end of the urine stream could be caused by a few different things - even if she doesn't act painful, this is definitely not normal. The most common causes of these symptoms in an older female dog like Snic would include a bacterial UTI, bladder stones, or even a bladder tumor of some kind. I would recommend taking Snic to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do a urinalysis and may also recommend x-rays or ultrasound of her bladder to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Poor girl. So sorry to hear she has cancer. Frequent urination, blood in the urine, and small amounts can be a sign of a urinary tract infection, bladder or kidney stones, bladder inflammation, or bladder cancers. Bleeding from the penis can have various causes: Xander could be suffering from a UTI, an inflammation of the prostate, penis or prepuce or a tumor. Since he is not eating and lethargic it is likely something that causes him pain and he may have a fever. You can carefully push back his prepuce (foreskin) and then inspect his penis for injuries or growths, or to see where exactly he was bleeding from or is still bleeding from. If he is still bleeding you should take him to an emergency room this evening. If it stopped bleeding but he stays lethargic or will not eat his breakfast tomorrow morning or if you find injuries on the penis , then you should call your vet for an appointment.
