Why is my senior dog lethargic, peeing inside, and has bloody stools?

Reasons for blood in the stool include colitis, intestinal parasites and dietary indiscretion and some possible reasons of blood in the urine include urinary tract infections, urinary stones and even tumors. It sounds like Button is pretty sick. She is showing several different symptoms and could have a number of things going on. In older dogs like her I worry about things such as diabetes, a urinary tract infection, and cancer. I would recommend taking her to your vet to be checked out as soon as possible. Your vet will most likely want to perform some lab work, possibly a urinalysis, and maybe even some x-rays. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further diagnostics would include abdominal imaging and lab work. If Peach is unable to walk, she may have either a neurologic disease (such as intervertebral disc disease or a polyneuropathy) or a musculoskeletal disease (polymyopathy, arthritis, etc) that is preventing her from wanting to stand or walk. It is not normal for dogs to not urinate at least daily. Some dogs can go a day or two without defecating, but urination should happen multiple times a day. Lack of urination can be caused by or even due to kidney disease, which can rapidly become fatal if a dog does not pass urine. I do not know of her exact clinical status, but if Peach is unable to stand or walk for weeks now, and has been lethargic and not urinating/defecating, you may have to consider her quality of life. Meaning, do you believe that Peach is enjoying each day as she should. If not, is it time to consider something like humane euthanasia. I hope this is helpful.

He could have a urinary tract infection so he should be examined by a vet. Your vet can run a urinalysis to look for infection and other potential causes. He could also have urinary stones, prostate problem, tumor, etc. If he has an infection then he will need an antibiotic to treat.

The masses under the skin can be due to a benign or malignant growth. Both of these conditions can be linked or be completely separate issues. A urinalysis and urine culture can be performed to check the urine. Abdominal imaging may also be recommended. The lumps could be benign or malignant growths. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Vomiting and diarrhea can occur secondary to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, parasites, among other possibilities. In addition, black stools can be indicative of bleeding into the small intestine or stomach which can happen secondary to an ulcer for instance. Bloody urine can be the result of an infection, stones, tumors, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. At the very least they can start him on medications to make him feel better and check his hydration status. In the meantime, keep water available at all times to try to prevent dehydration.
