Why is my old dog peeing blood and having accidents indoors?

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 12 years and 9 months old | 76 lbs

I have a 13 year old male American Pit Bull Terrier. Recently he has been unable to hold his bladder, going in the house and there is blood in it

He could have a urinary tract infection so he should be examined by a vet. Your vet can run a urinalysis to look for infection and other potential causes. He could also have urinary stones, prostate problem, tumor, etc. If he has an infection then he will need an antibiotic to treat.

Unfortunately, your pup may have a urinary tract infection. He needs to have a urinalysis done at a veterinary clinic, and may need a course of antibiotics. I know that pets canT, be expensive sometimes, but if he has a urinary tract infection that goes untreated it could harm his kidneys.

This could be a sign of urinary incontinence although it is a bit odd that it seems to happen only after a walk - usually dogs with incontinence will leak urine at various times through the day, especially when they are lying down. A urinary tract infection, bladder stones, kidney disease or other diseases that might cause dilute urine would also be possible. I'd recommend rechecking with your vet and seeing what they would recommend as the next step. They might want to recheck a urine sample (this time they may want to put a small needle into the bladder to get a clean sample), or they might recommend blood work or x-rays.

Poor Snic! Frequent urination with blood at the end of the urine stream could be caused by a few different things - even if she doesn't act painful, this is definitely not normal. The most common causes of these symptoms in an older female dog like Snic would include a bacterial UTI, bladder stones, or even a bladder tumor of some kind. I would recommend taking Snic to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to - he/she can do a urinalysis and may also recommend x-rays or ultrasound of her bladder to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

I am so sorry that Puffy is having this issue. I would recommend having an x-ray performed to rule out or in stones. If she has bladder stones then ideally she would have surgery. If she is about 10 years old I wouldn't be concerned about the surgery as long as her physical examination is good and her blood work is good. If she does not have bladder stones I would recommend getting a urine culture performed and potentially an ultrasound of her bladder. The urine culture will definitively rule out a urinary tract infection while the ultrasound will make sure there is no mass in her bladder. My senior dog suddenly pees indoors. What health issues cause this?

At her age there are several things it can be. Your vet can collect a urine sample to check for a urinary tract infection. They can always draw some blood to check her kidneys and blood sugar and for Cushings disease. All these can cause an increase in drinking and urination which will lead to accidents. If all of that is normal, than she may be getting incontinent and they have medication for that also!
