Why is my senior dog's bloody urine returning after antibiotics?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 18 years and 5 months old | 8 lbs

18 1/2 yr old neutered male had blood in urine went away with antibiotics then had some inflammation in bladder more meds he has had kidney infection and pancreatitis hes been acting fine eats regular meals and goes to bathroom fine with a lot of urine is in diapers and has dark blood discharge is on antibiotics again but the discharge has come back he goes to vets for recheck in 3 weeks any suggestions

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Chocolate Bar. 18.5 years of age-what an amazingly long life you have given him! The recurrent blood in the urine is concerning though. There is a chance that he has developed bladder cancer. I would recommend having an abdominal ultrasound to visualize his entire urinary tract to look for any abnormalities. If there is a suspicious growth, then the radiologist can collect a sample for testing. In the meantime, continue his medications as directed. Good luck!
