How much dewormer should I safely give my tiny 2-pound puppies?

My recommendation is to separate the powder from ONE pouch into 4 equal parts. Then take one of those parts and separate it again into 2 parts and give each puppy one of those parts. That would treat 1.25 pounds which will be fine for those puppies. Each puppy needs that same dose once a day for 3 consecutive days. Don't get too crazy separating every grain of powder. The dewormer is safe so if it is a bit more it will not hurt them. However, you don't want to WAY overdose them. I hope this helps. Best wishes!

Once you have that here's how to calculate the amount. (You should get a dosing syringe so you can measure cc's or ml's) One teaspoon is 5 ml so 1/2 teaspoon is 2.5 ml. If she weighs one pound her dose would be 0.5 ml orally. So take her actual weight in pounds and multiply it by 2.5. Then divide that number by 5 and that will be the number of ml's or milliliters (cc's) that you should give her. Great question. Good luck with Baby Girl. She should be dewormed 3-4 times and the dewormings should be done every 3 weeks.

I do not recommend giving a dewormer until at-least three weeks of age. The deworming medication is dosed based on body weight, so the mum will need a different one than the puppies. The label of the deworming medication should indicate how much to give per body weight of the pup, or dog (certain medications can be used for a puppy and an adult dog). If it doesn't then I would not give it. It's always best to give this medication only as directed by your veterinarian, because it can be easy to make a mistake, or use the medication inappropriately. I typically deworm every 2 weeks, starting from age 2 weeks all the way to 16 weeks. Make sure to weight them each time prior to administering, so that you are giving them the correct dose. You should really have a vet do that. It is very easy to overdose a puppy that small and that could be deadly. Not only that, but the dewormer you can buy over the counter is not very good and only usually is effective for one type of worm and often not safe to use in puppies that young. Your vet will have the best and safest products to use. Please let your vet do that for you. It is better to be safe than sorry. Hope this answers your question. This is correct. That medication has a very wide dosing range and it is very safe. Resistance to this medications is starting to becoming a problem so we have started to use the higher end of the dose range.
