Is my 4-month-old Rottweiler puppy's weight normal for her age?

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | unspayed | 4 months and 20 days old

Hello my Rottweiler is 4 months 20 days old and weighs 37lbs , through research I learnt she should weigh more at her age and it's weighing me down because I feed her three times a day,regular exercise,give her enough water yet results are not encouraging. My question is how do what should I do to increase her weight , fat, and body substance

based on your pictures she looks like a healthy puppy! The weight of dog is based on it's bone structure. Not all dogs within the same breed will weigh exactly the same. Just like people. Fierce has a lot of growing still to do. She may be a more petite Rotweiller, which is perfectly fine. We want her to be a good body condition, over feeding her could lead to obesity which is a health issue. You want her to just be healthy! I've attached a body condition chart to help you figure out if she is an ideal body condition score.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks from your image that Fierce is a fine size. All dogs will vary in size depending on the size of their parents, their bloodline, and just individual variety. Also, it is important for large breed dogs to grow slowly to help prevent 'growing pains' and issues with their joints. As long as she is happy, playing, eating, and having normal poops then don't worry. Feed her a good quality large breed puppy food, and don't worry about her not growing fast enough, she will get there. Trying to get her to grow faster may lead to joint issues, so avoid this. Best of luck with Fierce and have fun with her.

My GSD puppy looks thin. Is this normal for a growing German Shepherd?

Hi there. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I think that based on the photos Bruno looks very characteristic of a 5 month old GSD. I am not really sure what you are worried about. I would not be overly concerned about anything related to his looks until he is full grown (about 18 months of age). You absolutely don't want a large breed puppy to grow too fast as that can cause joint abnormalities so be careful of this. He should be eating a large breed puppy food so I hope the Royal Canin you are feeding is this type of diet and not just a general puppy food. If you have specific concerns I suggest you take him to your vet for an exam. Again, I think he looks just fine from the photos. Best wishes.

Is my 11-month-old Golden Retriever puppy's 55lb weight healthy?

Hello. Your picture seems to show a very healthy young dog, but without being able to feel how prominent the ribs & backbone can be palpated, it is impossible to ascertain his condition. A dog, under a year of age, should have some muscle & fat protecting the underlying skeletal structure. With just a little pressure, you should be able to feel ribs & backbone, not sharp points. That is a better way to tell than just by weight because size & bone structure can affect things. If there is a fairly good layer of flesh on your dog, he should be just fine. My 8-month-old puppy weighs 44lbs. Is this a healthy weight?

From the picture, it appears that Luna is at an adequate weight for her age. As she grows, her weight will fluctuate. Without examining her it is difficult to say for sure but if her ribs are too prominent, this typically means she is underweight. As long as you are feeding for what the bag of dog food recommends for her age, she should gain weight normally. Again, let me emphasize that at times, while puppy's are growing, they may seem underweight when in actuality they are going through rapid growth which will slow down and the weight will eventually catch up to a normal body weight. Some dogs also have an athletic build making them more lean than most. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Is my 3-month-old female Shih Tzu puppy too small or underweight?

There is no easy answer to that question, as a dog's appropriate weight is not just based on their breed but their individual body size. If your dog's ribs are visible or very easily felt, then it may be that she needs to put on a little weight. If her ribs are underneath a small layer of fat, she has a good appetite and is otherwise feeling well, she most likely is doing fine. If you are concerned, I would have her weight and body condition checked by her regular veterinarian to ensure that she doesn't have intestinal parasites or anything else that could be contributing to her appearing small. My 7-month-old husky is gaining weight. Is she too fat? How much food?

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! How long you want her to heel on a walk is up to you. If you want her to not pull and be by your side then she should be able to do it the entire walk. At 7 months old Sienna is still growing bone wise. She doesn't look overweight in your pictures. Dogs do tend to get overweight after their spay, so you do have to be careful. I would continue the current amount of food. I provided a link on how to determine ideal body condition. If she gets too overweight, cut back. She is approaching the high end of the weight range for a female. I am guessing she will hit 50 lbs. If she is a larger framed husky she could go over that.
