How to make my rescued street puppy healthy and safe to play with?

There is no way for us to be able to tell you with 100% certainty that it would be safe to catch/touch/adopt a street dog. If the dog is not aggressive you can try to catch it and then take it to a vet for an exam and vaccines. The vet can give you more information about how to proceed from there. The biggest concern is you getting bitten by a stray dog that may have rabies.

Hello. It is best to have this puppy examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible to check & treat for any intestinal parasites & any possible coat or skin issues such as mange, fleas & ticks. The veterinarian can guestimate the puppies age & recommend the vaccinations that are appropriate to the puppies age & what diseases are present in your area. Hello, and thank you for rescuing the puppy. You can feed any national puppy food & do very well with it. My favorites are Hills Science Diet, Royal Canin & even Purina. They are all excellent without being gimmicky. Have her seen by your vet soon for parasite protection & vaccinations & she should grow healthy & well. Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Congratulations!! Bruno is adorable! Bruno needs to start his puppy vaccines. He should receive a DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo and parainfluenza) vaccine every 3-4 weeks starting around 7-8 weeks of age until he receives two past 12 weeks. He should get his rabies vaccine between 12-16 weeks. He can start being dewormed as well. Having him dewormed and Rabies vaccination will protect your family. Keep up with his vaccinations into adulthood as they do have expiration dates. Deworm yearly. I recommend puppy food until 1 year of age. I like Purina proplan, hills science diet and Royal Canin. As a puppy his energy level is like a new born. Play for a bit then sleep. Around 4 months they are awake more. So playing with him when awake and 2-3 walks a day are appropriate. Awww. It's very nice of you to take on this type of responsibility. The first thing you should do is to take him into the vet for an initial examination. They will be able to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong, versus simply malnutrition and dehydration. If this is the case, Champ will likely require something to eliminate gastrointestinal parasites. He belly looks very round in that picture, which in young dogs is usually associated with worms. This can be a very common cause of weakness and malnutrition, and the nutrients that he is consuming will not be properly absorbed until the parasites are eradicated. The veterinarian will also probably want to give some fluids, either subcutaneously or directly into the bloodstream. The method of delivery will ultimately be decided based upon the level of dehydration the vet detects. Champ will require a healthy, high quality large breed puppy food eventually. However, in the meantime, I would provide something like a Purina Critical Nutrition or HIll's A/D. These are prescription diets that are very high in fat and high calorie, and are typically not easily turned down by even the sickest of pets. Lastly, Champ probably needs your love, warmth and support. I am sure you have plenty of this.

Ideally, he should be examined by your veterinarian to confirm good health or to diagnose and treat any pre existing conditions. A stool sample should be examined to diagnose intestinal parasites. You can feed him 3-4 times daily. Monitor his weight to confirm adequate gains. Feed a good quality puppy food. You can make a slurry or gruel using kibble and puppy milk replacer. Decrease the amount of liquid over the next few weeks until he is eating just kibble.

I would recommend to feed Royal Canin Puppy food. Its an easy to digest food that should be less likely to cause upset stomach. Wash her and make sure to pick off any fleas you see. If you decide to keep her, take her into a vet as soon as you can to get a deworming done and start vaccines if she is old enough. The doctor can also estimate her age. I hope this helps!
