How long and how often should I feed puppy formula to my rescue?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 6 lbs

I resqued a starfing boxer pup yesterday. I usually resque the older dogs so this is new. I estimate he is about 8 weeks. He did not want to eat or drink when I got him. He jad no temp and his abdomen is not sensitive. I have been feeding him 30ml milko-pup puppy formula every 4 hours and after one day he is walking around he ate some pallets and meat and is drinking a bit of water. I have also given him probotic for animals. How long should I give the Milk and how often a day

Ideally, he should be examined by your veterinarian to confirm good health or to diagnose and treat any pre existing conditions. A stool sample should be examined to diagnose intestinal parasites. You can feed him 3-4 times daily. Monitor his weight to confirm adequate gains. Feed a good quality puppy food. You can make a slurry or gruel using kibble and puppy milk replacer. Decrease the amount of liquid over the next few weeks until he is eating just kibble.
