Sticky residue on dog's fur won't wash off. How to remove it?

Try putting some mayonnaise or coconut oil into the fur; the oils will soften the stickiness of the marshmallow. Then use a fine tooth comb to get it out. It may be tedious but it should work. Hi there, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You could try washing your puppy in dawn dishwashing fluid and using a flea comb to pull off the eggs. Sometimes we have to clip the hair if they are completely stuck tightly-you may end up having to do this in places.

Vegetable or mineral should have removed a majority of the residue. You can use a fine toothed comb to "brush" out the rest of it. Once you're done, cleanse the area with a few drops of Dawn dish soap and warm water.

If the poop is just stuck to the fur I would recommend either soaking it to get it off or if you have a dog clipper (like a groomer uses, not scissors) and clip it off. Often you can remove the dried feces with a comb or soft brush. Try to get under any fur if there is any and loosen it with the comb or do some circular brushing to loosen it. Also scrubbing the area will a soft brush during a bath and using a lot of warm water usually will take care of it as well. Once Koga is clean if you put a thin film of Vaseline on his fur below and around the anus and on the underneath of the tail it will keep the diarrhea from sticking to his skin or fur. I am sorry but I am afraid there isn't a good solution to get it out. You can try baby oil to help it unstick from the skin but I think the best solution would be to take him to your vet and have them clip it out. He will have a bad hair cut but it is better than that area getting infected and needing much more involved treatment. I hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sri Didymus is super cute! You can use hydrogen peroxide, dawn and baking soda. I am not sure if they will work. Worst case is you can clip the fur and it will grow back white. I know that isn't an instant answer but its a reasonable one! Good luck!
