My dog got epoxy resin on his fur. How can I safely remove it?

Vegetable or mineral should have removed a majority of the residue. You can use a fine toothed comb to "brush" out the rest of it. Once you're done, cleanse the area with a few drops of Dawn dish soap and warm water.

Poor Trex! You can try coating it in organic coconut oil to see if this helps to slide it out easier. If that doesn't work, you need to have him examined by the veterinarian to have this removed before it causes an infection and further discomfort. Wash off the coconut oil afterwards. I hope it works!

Thank you for contacting Pet Coach your question about Cooper. Massage the area with olive oil. If the sap has hardened, use a hair dryer on the lowest setting to soften it up first. After you have gotten all the sap out with olive oil, wash his paws in a dog shampoo and warm water. If the tree sap is really stubborn, you can use clippers to shave out those bits or make an appointment with a groomer to have it done. I hope this helps!

Ouch! Poor Rocky! Burns are really high risk to get infected and are usually very painful. If possible, I would have your vet look at it so they can properly clean the wound and get him started on antibiotics and pain meds and topical treatment to have the fastest recovery. If you are unable to take him to the vet, you can try to gently clean it will a mild soap and water. I would also make sure he doesn’t lick it. You can put a Cone collar on him to prevent this. You can put neosporin OINTMENT on it twice a day to help it heal. I would also confine him so he doesn’t get the area dirty. This method may not work so watch the wound closely. If at any point there is pus from the wound or he stops eating or becomes lethargic, I would strongly urge him to see a vet as the infection could go systemic without oral antibiotics. Hi there, and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You could try washing your puppy in dawn dishwashing fluid and using a flea comb to pull off the eggs. Sometimes we have to clip the hair if they are completely stuck tightly-you may end up having to do this in places.

Try putting some mayonnaise or coconut oil into the fur; the oils will soften the stickiness of the marshmallow. Then use a fine tooth comb to get it out. It may be tedious but it should work.
