The most common cause of scabs like this with red skin underneath is a bacterial skin infection called pyoderma - this can occur on its own, or due to an underlying skin problem like allergies or mange. If the scabs are confined to a single small area and don't seem to be bothering Luigi, you can try applying a topical antibiotic spray to the area for the next few days to see if the problem resolves. If there is no improvement after 2-3 days, or if the scabs become painful or itchy or seem to be spreading, I would recommend having Luigi examined by a vet since he may need prescription antibiotics or other medication to treat the infection.

I recommend taking him to a vet for oral antibiotics. You can try bathing him in puppy shampoo and make sure he is fully dry, but oral antibiotics are needed to cure the pustules. Hello. This may be just a simple skin infection caused by a staph infection. This is very common in puppies. Sometimes bathing twice weekly in an antibacterial shampoo that contains benzoyl peroxide or chlorhexidine can be just as effective as oral antibiotics. Regarding the skin issue, it could be an allergy, a fungal or bacterial infection as well as skin parasites, in most cases it is necessary to take a small sample from the affected skin and investigate it under the microscope in order to find out what it is, your vet can do that in house within 10-20 minutes.
