My little puppy got worse at vet for severe illness. Was it right?

Hello. I am so sorry for the loss of your puppy. When such a young dog has such severe symptoms, survival is very unlikely. I do not know the basis for your decision - if it was an economic decision or something else, but hospitalization with aggressive fluid therapy would have been the only chance to save Sassy. Stomach medicine is a part of the therapy, but IV fluids are very important, & even with this, Sassy may not have survived. Vomiting blood is an unusual symptom of HGE, so it is possible something else was at work here, but none the less, it was severe. I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences.

Having severe diarrhea like Beckett seems to be having can be very painful and uncomfortable. This may be why he is more lethargic than normal and why his stomach seems tense/contracted. It is great news that he doesn't have Parvo! Hopefully in addition to the antibiotics your vet also dewormed Beckett, as puppies often have intestinal parasites. If Beckett stops eating, begins vomiting, or the diarrhea isn't improving after about 48 hours of being on the medication I would recommend bringing him back to the vet to be reevaluated. Sometimes with severe diarrhea these little puppies can become dehydrated and need additional treatment like fluid therapy. Good luck!

If he has parvovirus or other infectious diseases such as distemper then this could perhaps carry a poor prognosis for him. He should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible to determine the cause of his diarrhea and weakness. He may need to be hospitalize to receive fluids and medications through his veins. It could be parvo but it could also be other things. you need to take him urgently to the vet for him to get hospitalized and treated, if it is parvo his chances are not good at his age but if it is something else he could survive if he receives the correct treatment.

I'm very sorry Lucky is so ill! Without seeing him in person myself, I can't say he's going to make it or not. I can say, however, you did exactly the right thing by taking him into the vet right away when he was sick, and I will be hoping for you as well that he pulls through :-(
