Why is my 9-week-old puppy vomiting, shaking, and having diarrhea?

Hello my puppy of 9 weeks has suddely come on with a bad case of D&V and is shaking and is really not himself! can you help please??

Poor Bailey! That is very concerning and I don't think it is something that can be treated without some veterinary care. Please call your vet and have him examined and treated asap, especially since the vomiting and diarrhea is bad and he is shaking. He may be getting dehydrated and in need of fluids. He could have a parasite or an infection and your vet can run lab-work to help determine the cause and then recommend a treatment plan. Hope he feels better soon!

Poor Jasmine! It's hard to say what's wrong without being able to examine her and do some testing, but these are very concerning signs - you're right that she may have gotten into something toxic, or she may have had a seizure or some other neurologic problem. This may be a life-threatening problem, so I would recommend taking her to the vet immediately for an exam - he/she can do blood work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Unfortunately rhese are fairly non specific signs, but in a dog as young as Chloe my first concern would be some type of poisoning, or toxin ingestion. I would advise immediate care at an emergency facility in order to run lab woe and start figuring out what could possibly be going on. I wish I could tell you more, but I am definitely concerned, and I would get her right in.

Baily is so cute! I am concerned though that he is not eating and having such intestinal upset. I would recommend you take Baily in for an exam with your vet as soon as possible. Puppies this young can get dehydrated very quickly and become quite ill. I am worried about the possibility of intestinal parasites, eating something he shouldn't have (dietary indiscretion), or even a bacterial or viral infection (like parvovirus). Yes, definitely take her into the vet now. Bailey is a young puppy, and while she may have swallowed some tissues, I'd also be concerned she could have parvovirus as she won't be fully vaccinated. Whenever a young puppy is having both vomiting and diarrhea, the best thing for them is to have them see a vet immediately. Best of luck.

If possible, please take Bailey to your local emergency service for an appointment tonight. If this is not an option, you should withhold any water or food overnight, offer him very small amount of water in the morning and take him to your regular vets as soon as they open on Saturday morning.

My dog is shaking, trembling, and has watery diarrhea. Is he sick?

It sounds like your dog is very uncomfortable or even painful, probably in his belly from your description of his symptoms. The diarrhea could be caused by any number of things; intestinal parasites, a bacterial infection, even being constipated will sometimes manifest as diarrhea because liquid feces is all that will get by the impacted fecal material. It could be as simple as a dietary indiscretion, meaning he might have gotten into the trash and eaten something that didn't agree with him. If he continues to have loose stool, or starts vomiting, loses his appetite, acts lethargic, and/or develops a fever, get him in to be seen by your vet right away as this could indicate a more serious problem.

Poor guy. It sounds like your puppy likely has a severe infection. I would highly recommend getting him seen first thing in the morning at any vet that is open and able. If an ER vet is the only option, then I would highly recommend going there. The vet needs to check your pup for parvovirus. My new puppy has diarrhea and won't eat after her first shots.

Poor Bailey. The diarrhea could be present for many reasons and it could be related to a vaccine reaction. Parasites, bacteria overgrowth, a change in diet or something more sinister like parvo are also possible. I recommend to play it safe and have Bailey examined today by the veterinarian. Taking a sample of feces for testing. Best of luck.

Hello, I am sorry to hear about Stuart. It sounds like Stuart is not feeling well at all. Shaking is a nonspecific sign in dogs but could be a sign of discomfort/pain. Vomiting and lack of appetite could be signs of a problem within the GI tract, such as ingestion of foreign material or garbage, or possibly a sign of an infectious disease. It could also be a sign of a problem outside the GI tract such as liver/kidney disease or pancreatitis. As Stuart is still a young puppy with any vomiting or lack of appetite they can have a challenging time maintaining their blood sugar and temperature so I would strongly urge you to have him seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
