My dog is vomiting, diarrhea, weak, and won't eat. Is it serious?

Pet's info: Dog | Staffordshire Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 10 days old | 19 lbs

my dog is throwing up constantly(white vomit with grass inside) has green diarrhoea, weak, fatigue and is refusing to eat or drink. pls tell me if you think it is serious.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. it does sound serious. Profound vomiting and diarrhea in such a young puppy can lead quickly to dehydration. If possible, please take Bailey to your local emergency service for an appointment tonight. If this is not an option, you should withhold any water or food overnight, offer him very small amount of water in the morning and take him to your regular vets as soon as they open on Saturday morning.

This sounds like a very serious or life threatening condition. I would take her in right away for a veterinary exam and treatment. You’ve given it long enough to see if she would improve on her own and I’m concerned she won’t make it without immmediate treatment. Without further details I’m not sure the reason. It could be from and injury, infection, or other underlying medical problem. Your veterinarian will be able to diagnose the problem and start treatment. These are all very concerning signs and may be due to severe illness or an obstruction in his bowel and may be life threatening given the degree of weakness. Please have him assessed urgently by your vet

Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am sorry to hear California isn’t feeling well. She is inactive because she is weak. She hasn’t been able to keep any food down so there is no energy in her body. Even if there isn’t blood, because of how many time she’s vomited and because of her age this is very concerning. She could have parvovirus, intestinal parasites or a foreign body in her intestinal tract. She needs to see a vet right away for an exam and testing. Because she’s so young she may not be able to recover without treatment and she could get worse. I would take her to a vet right away. Good luck and kisses to California!

Puppies this young can get dehydrated very quickly and become quite ill. Hello. If you are concerned about parvo, blood may not appear in the diarrhea for another day or so. If he continues to have vomiting & diarrhea, Justice will become dehydrated & this will make him very, very weak. My puppy is very sick, vomiting, won't eat or drink. What should I do?

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like Joplin is very very sick. She might have a condition called "Parvovirus" which is a very serious virus that affects puppies, and is more likely if Joplin is unvaccinated. The other possible causes in a puppy include an obstruction in her gut (a blockage from a foreign object (ex. ball) that she ate, or an intussusception (the intestines telescoping in on each other). Also, depending on her age, pyometra is possible along with many other conditions. With what you are describing, I am very concerned that she could die without aggressive care. I strongly recommend you get Joplin to a vet right away, and if your vet is closed go to your closest emergency clinic. They will recommend a test of her poop, as well as possible bloodwork and x-rays, and will likely want to keep her in hospital on IV fluids and medications. Best of luck with Joplin, I hope she feels better soon!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Popy! Sadly there are too many possible causes for Popy's symptoms for me to give you an idea on prognosis. I was the Vet that answered your last question. If no tests were done we do not know what Popy's disease is. She needs blood work and at least X-rays of her belly. If tests were done then please post the results or sign up for a consult. Causes of vomiting and diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, foreign body (ate something that is stuck requiring surgery to remove), kidney or liver failure, cancer, pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, etc. I hope this helps and I wish you all the best!

Unfortunately, this is not normal behavior for a young puppy and is pretty concerning. At less than two months old, your puppy needs to eat regularly or he risks having low blood sugar, which can cause serious health problems. Vomiting is not typically caused by stress and all these signs make me worry about a more serious illness. Please have him seen by a veterinarian right away because his lack of appetite and vomiting are very serious.

Poor Bailey! That is very concerning and I don't think it is something that can be treated without some veterinary care. Please call your vet and have him examined and treated asap, especially since the vomiting and diarrhea is bad and he is shaking. He may be getting dehydrated and in need of fluids. He could have a parasite or an infection and your vet can run lab-work to help determine the cause and then recommend a treatment plan. Hope he feels better soon!

Puppy ate plant, vomiting, lethargic, shivering. Is it serious?

I'm so sorry that Bailee is so sick. It sounds like she needs to see a veterinarian immediately. If you know for sure that she got into a plant, you can contact the ASPCA poison control (https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control) which will help your veterinarian treat her. If you're not sure that she got into a plant, I would take her to your nearest emergency vet today. Puppies can get very sick from a number of different diseases and will get sicker faster than adult dogs. Puppies can quickly have problems getting dehydrated, having low blood sugar and having problems regulating their temperature when they get sick.
