Puppy vomiting clear fluid & grass after food change. Is she okay?

If she is eating and holding that down and water that is also good news. If she continues to vomit or becomes lethargic than try to get her seen sooner. In that case, fast her for 6-8 hours then start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice as small frequent meals. Feed 1 cup per 20lbs. I hope this helps and good luck!

Her condition is not normal, and I would recommend following-up with your veterinarian this morning as soon as they open for a reassessment appointment. She may need some labs ran to ensure nothing major is wrong internally which is something for you to discuss with your vet. At a minimum, it is likely she will need anti-nausea medication as well as some medications to help with the diarrhea. If left untreated, she could become very dehydrated which would make her extremely sick. It is much better to get on top of these things before they become a bigger problem. Be sure that you know if she is vomiting (belly goes in and out) versus regurgitation (burps up fluid) versus a cough with a terminal retch (cough is first followed by a gag of fluid). I don't know how old Honey is but she only weighs 5 lbs and that means if she is truly vomiting then she could get dehydrated quickly. If the vomiting is non-stop she should be taken to your Vet if open or an emergency hospital. If it has been a couple of times remove all water and food. Do not offer water for 4-6 hours of no vomiting and offer small amounts and ice chips. Do not offer food until 12-24 hours of no vomiting and offer it as a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice. Feed 1 cup per 20 lbs per day as small frequent meals. If she continues to vomit while fasted or once she starts eating she needs to see a Vet. Causes of vomiting are: intestinal parasites, foreign body (something is stuck and needs surgery to remove), dietary indiscretion, viral or bacterial infections, metabolic conditions, toxin ingestion, food allergy or intolerance. I would with hold food for 12 hours then start a bland diet of boiled chicken or hamburger with rice for 2 days. If he eats it well and doesn't vomit then put him back on the original food. If you really want him on this new food mix it with the old food and slowly transition him to the new diet. If he won't eat and continues to vomit he should see a Vet. Unfortunately, it is quite common for some dogs to experience GI upset ([vomiting](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/vomiting-1/) or [diarrhea](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/diarrhea-1/)) when switching food. As long as Bo is behaving normally otherwise, you may be able to [manage her at home](https://www.petcoach.co/article/6-things-you-can-do-at-home-if-your-pet-has-diarrhea). I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours. Resume feeding a bland diet (boiled boneless/skinless chicken breast mixed with plain cooked white rice) in small, frequent amounts. Begin with 1 tablespoon of food every hour and gradually increase the amount as long as she doesn't vomit. Feed the bland diet until the stool is consistently normal (usually several days), then transition slowly to the new diet over another 5-7 days. [Veterinary probiotics](https://www.petcoach.co/article/probiotics-and-prebiotics-bacteria-aren-t-all-bad) may be considered to promote gut health. If she continues to vomit and have diarrhea, or develops lethargy, loss of appetite, or abdominal pain in spite of a bland diet, she will need to see a vet as soon as possible.

It sounds like Princess may have eaten something naughty (trash, toilet paper, paper plate, sock, toy stuffing, other) that decided to come back up. The fact that she has shown no signs today is promising. If she has eaten and kept it down, you are likely in the clear. Caveat: Do watch her closely for the next 2-3 days because if a smaller piece of whatever it was did get through and gets lodged in the intestine, you'll see lots more vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, etc. If this happens, it's time to see the vet. Sonetimes dogs get a bit of a tummy upset called gastritis. It can be caused by eating something rancid or an infection. Sometimes they simply have too much acid. Eating grass is a sign the tummy is sore. He will likely be a little unsettled but if he is not continually vomiting I would let him rest overnight then take him to the vet in the morning g if he is still poorly. Don't feed anything At the moment.
