Is my puppy safe from ticks at the cabin with collar and meds?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 22 days old | 127 lbs

Hi! I live in Minnesota and plan to go to my family’s cabin in Wisconsin over the 4th of July. They were last minute plans and I didn’t have my 4 month old puppy get the shot for Lyme’s disease and now it’s too late (he’d have to get a booster shot a month later for it to work, I’ve been told). I decided I was too worried about bringing him to the cabin but now I’m being guilted for not going. So my question is- if I have a flea & tick collar AND he’s on the meds pictured, is it still too risky?

Unfortunately there is no picture attached to your post; there seems to be a problem with our server at the moment in regards to this. Anyway, if Harley is on a good flea and tick medication (something from the vet, not something like Hartz), he should be fine. Brands I recommend include Frontline, Bravecto, and K9 Advantix II. I hope this helps!
