Why does my puppy suck on my fingers or his paws? Should I worry?

You can try distracting him or diverting his attention when he does it but this is just a relic of puppyhood that is left over. Most dogs will eventually stop this. This isn't something i would recommend to discourage, even if she does it on cloths or other objects, you should let her do this. she is very young, i would definitely recommend to leave some food at all time in her bowl so she can go and eat at night if she is hungry.

Congratulations on your new puppy! This behavior is pretty normal for puppies. There are some theories regarding what causes it, but it does take puppies a little while to be self aware and determine which body parts belong to them. Kittens, particularly those as young as Freddy, continue to emulate behaviors they performed on their mother's when they nursed. The kneading is the physical movement kittens must make on the teats of the queen in order to get the milk. The suckling on the blanket is the same in that they are emulating nursing behaviors. It is also possible there is something on the blanket that tastes good! There is nothing to worry about in my opinion so long as Freddy is a healthy, happy kitten otherwise.

It may be due to boredom or anxiety. Consider an e-collar (cone) or keep him away from the paw at night. You can use a spray, such as Bitter Apple or Fooey!, to deter licking. A pheromone product, such is the Adaptil collar or DAP plug in diffuser, may decrease any anxiety. If the behavior persists, have Onyx physically examined by your veterinarian to diagnose and treat any underlying conditions.
