Why is my puppy stressed, biting fur, and crying after routine change?

Hello, sorry to hear about Snowie, it looks like she may be developing a hot spot in that area. This is most likely associated with topical allergies. Allergies may affect more than just the skin and can make dogs feel anxious, have excessive panting, excessive licking and scratching, and occasionally a decreased appetite. If these signs persists then she should be evaluated by her veterinarian. In the interim, you should make sure that Snowie is not scratching at her neck excessively. I would find out what shampoo it was that they used. It can be irritation from that. I would also look to see if there is redness on her skin and if there is I would have your veterinarian take a look. Sometimes dogs can get a little stressed if they were recently shaved down. Hi, and thanks for your question. This could be due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Hi there. Yes, stress could be the cause of Bear's eating behavior. I would try feeding him away from the other dog, somewhere where he doesn't feel challenged because this could be an issue. You can also try high calorie food like Royal Canin GI high energy to help make sure he's getting plenty of calories. Hi there and thank you for posting your question! That poor face! It almost looks as if she is suffering from puppy strangles / cellulitis. This may also be a skin mite infection so I would have her taken to your vet to get this diagnosed and treated properly.

That’s hard to say, if only Baby Girl could talk! Those are all signs of anxiety but licking the lips and hiding can also indicate an upset stomach. Monitor her eating very closely and watch for any changes. Also watch her for any vomiting, diarrhea or changes in her water intake. If you see anything that appears to be illness, make sure to have her seen by her veterinarian. There are also medications that she can take to help with anxiety and it may be worthwhile to call her doctor. Anxious dogs often respond well to exercise and I recommend a 30 minute vigorous play session every day or a long walk. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.
