My 5-month puppy needs shots. Is Spectra 9 vaccine the right one?

Canine Spectra 5 is ok to give Leo, but he will also need a rabies vaccine. The rabies vaccine is required by law in most US states, and it can only be given by a veterinarian. If you vaccinate now, they should receive boosters at around 12-13 weeks, and then the third series 4 weeks later. They only need the three rounds. If you give Spectra 5 the first time, I would recommend Spectra 10 for the next two series. The Spectra 10 vaccinates against leptospirosis, and they need to have that twice, 4 weeks apart. Make sure they also receive a rabies vaccination with a veterinarian at 16 weeks of age. All vaccines will need to be boostered in 1 year. You can but it would be best to have a vet administer the vaccinations so they can talk to you about what else she may need. She will also needs boosters. So, technically, yes you can give that vaccination yourself if you feel comfortable doing it. Two more boosters 3-4 week apart would be needed afterwards. Mabel will be due for a rabies vaccination by 16 weeks of age and that has to be administered by a vet (this is law) so you are best off taking her and getting them all done together. I personally do not recommend giving vaccines yourself at home. Owners frequently give them wrong, and places where you buy them, like Tractor Supply, often store the vaccine incorrectly, rendering them ineffective. I cannot tell you how many pets I've seen come down with parvo and distemper who have been vaccinated at home. Bandit's health is up most importance, so I would have him vaccinated by a vet. The solo 5 and solo 9 are different vaccines in that the 9 also offers protection against several strains of leptospirosis. You have a couple of a different options in terms of how you can go about things and you may get a different opinion from a few different vets. In 3-4 weeks you can get the solo 5 boostered OR you can booster if with the solo 9. Either way, I would still booster this one more time at 18-19 weeks in order to guarantee full protection up to one year of age. Some veterinarians may tell you to only booster at the 15 week mark. This is a valid opinion, but it will not be good enough if you want to get the lepto portion of the vaccine. You will need at least two shots with the lepto in it, meaning at 15 and 19 weeks. As for the Rabies shot, this can be given at any time after 12 weeks of age. Hope this helps!

Yes you can get that for Dusty, and he will need a booster four weeks after the first vaccine in order to be fully vaccinated. In addition, he will need a rabies vaccines as it's required by law in Indiana where you live for all dogs over the age of three months. He will need a booster four weeks after the first rabies vaccine to be fully vaccinated against that as well. If at 5 months, this will be the first time he will be receiving vaccines, then I would recommend he receive his rabies vaccine and distemper-hepatitis-parvovirus vaccine as well as bordetella if he will be around other dogs or kenneled. He will need a booster of the distemper and bordetella in 3-4 weeks. At your first appointment with Sash's vet, you and the veterinarian can decide what other vaccines are recommended based on Sash's risk level and health status. I hope this helps!
