My puppy is sneezing with boogers. When should I take him to the vet?

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Coughing, sneezing, along with mucous sounds suspicious of a upper respiratory infection. I would recommend Bubba be seen by his veterinarian as soon as possible. Your veterinarian will do an exam and may recommend x-rays to better evaluate the infection and help determine the cause. Bubba may need to be placed on antibiotics or other medications as needed to help clear the infection. I hope this helps!

Your puppy may have an upper respiratory tract infection which can be common in young puppies because their immune systems aren't fully developed. He may need some antibiotics and/or antihistamines to help stop the sneezing. The other cause of sneezing could be from a foreign body, like a piece of grass, that has become stuck in hos nose. If this is the case the sneezing will not resolve until it is removed. I would recommend taking Roscoe to the vet to be checked out so he can be treated appropriately. I hope this helps. This is usually treated with antibiotics. I recommend that you have your pup evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. The coughing and sneezing, especially if accompanied by nasal discharge can be caused by an upper respiratory infection or even pneumonia. These conditions require a veterinary exam and potentially bloodwork and x-rays to diagnose and treat. I recommend having Trigo seen by a vet as soon as possible. He should be seen immediately if he is unresponsive or you believe he is having trouble breathing. I hope all is well!

It sounds like he might have an upper respiratory infection so he should be examined by a vet. He might need an antibiotic to treat. A change in weather should not cause him to gag and wheeze so I don't think that is the reason. Schedule an appointment with a vet as soon as you can.

This may be due to an upper respiratory infection that could be now affecting the lower respiratory system as well such as kennel cough. It is very important that you have Teddy evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to gather more information and proceed with an exam to determine what would be best at this point. They are likely going to consider prescribing antibiotics.
