My puppy hit a wall and sneezed blood. Should I take him to the vet?

Ouch, poor Ruger! Bite wounds can be tricky because oftentimes we only see the tip of the iceberg with the external injuries. The damage to the tissues under the surface of the skin is often much more extensive than the small puncture seen on the skin. It's possible that this bite wound caused damage to his nasal passages, or even just enough soft tissue swelling and inflammation around his nasal passages to cause him to sneeze. Bite wounds also introduce a lot of bacteria and can become infected quickly. You should take Ruger to the vet now for evaluation. Your vet will want to do a full physical exam and may recommend sedating him to more extensively evaluate this puncture wound. Based on their exam findings, they will likely prescribe antibiotics and anti-inflammatory pain medications to help Ruger recover. I hope that he feels better soon!

It sounds like Raph has been very lucky. As long as he seems neurologically normal, there is no bleeding and his eyes focus normally without rotating strangely he should be fine. If you notice anything odd get him checked asap.

I would definitely be concerned about the bloody nose. Since he does frequent the dog park, infections such as bordetella, influenza, or even contagious nasal mites are possible. A nasal foreign body is also possible. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Antibiotics may be recommended. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Hello. It sounds like you can jut watch her overnight & see if there is any swelling, continued bleeding, either from the mouth or nose, & how comfortable she is eating & drinking in the morning. Hopefully, she will juts be a little bruised, & if she has no other problems except some swelling, there is no need to rush her in to your veterinarian. I am concerned about Shalim. Sneezing blood definitely is not normal. I would have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible and in the meantime just keep him calm. Blood from the nose can be caused by many things including inhaling foreign material such as dried portion of plants/foxtails (if you have those in your area), tumors or infections in the nasal cavity, low blood platelets (a type of blood cell that is necessary for clotting), and high blood pressure.

The nose bleed is worrying indeed, but it could be related to the same trauma. if he is otherwise absolutely fine you can wait and see, monitor him closely and make sure he doesn't become lethargic. if he isn't' himself at all- take him to the ER.

With a dog as young as he, my first guess would be a seed or bit of grass that he has sneezed into his nasal passage. Since he seems to be feeling okay otherwise I don't think he needs anything special done before he gets in to see the vet. If they don't find something else causing his sneezing, they may need to sedate him in order to explore his nasal passages for any sign of a foreign body.
