My new puppy is sleeping a lot, not eating, and hiding. Is she sick?

I am so sorry to hear that Coco is sick. At 8 weeks old my biggest concerns would be parvovirus, intestinal parasites, and something called intussusception. This is where the intestine telescopes on itself and causes a functional obstruction. I would highly encourage you to have a follow up appointment or seek a second opinion. An 8 week old puppy will become dehydrated and decompensate quickly without supportive care. IV fluids, anti nausea medications and anti diarrhea meds would be a good plan while the diagnostics are Being run to identify the problem such as fecal Exams, parvo test, CBC, And probably repeat x-rays. If she is the complete opposite than she was before, there is a good chance that there is a medical explanation for this, but because the symptoms are so general it would be hard to give you a possible diagnosis, the best way would be to take her to the vet for a checkup, she is probably dew to a vaccine anyway real soon.

In terms of the appetite, this is sometimes not uncommon in puppies when they are in their new environment. I recommend that you continue to monitor him for now, especially if you just got him. If these symptoms of not eating well and sleeping a large portion of the day do not improve, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment. If she is not eating, it will be easy for her to become dehydrated as she likely will not be stimulated to drink as much. If she is experiencing any vomiting or diarrhea this could be the cause of her inappetance. If not, see if she is coughing, sneezing or has any eye or nose discharge. These are all signs of illness in a dog. In the meantime, encourage her to eat as best you can. I hope this information helps!

Hi, I think Lola is not 100% if she is refusing to eat and just wanting to sit on your lap. I would recommend that you have her checked over as puppies are quite delicate and need to be eating regularly. She could have parasites or just a little temperature for example, it could be something quite simple but obviously that could cause her to feel poorly. Have her seen by your vet so that she can get any necessary treatment. Hope she gets better soon !

Congrats on your new puppy! It can be anxious getting a new puppy, and I get that. Puppies do sleep a lot, but you want to see periods of where Pepper is playing. She should be active and running around when awake. If she is slow moving, doesn't want to play, doesn't want to wake up, that is not normal. Also not eating, vomiting, and diarrhea are signs of being ill. If you see any of those signs, have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!
