New puppy is skinny and walks with a curled back paw. Is this normal?

I suspect this is a congenital abnormality. I recommend to get Ares examined by the veterinarian. With puppies, sometimes there are treatments available since they are still developing but sometimes there are not any options. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

This is not normal behavior for such a young dog, she appears to be much narrower over her back legs with poor muscle development, likely due to pain and weakness. Please schedule a full physical exam and likely xrays of her hips and pelvis to investigate the underlying cause of her discomfort

I recommend to have Nino King examined today. A sudden change in the angulation of the joint could indicate a slipped tendon or subluxation. The vet needs to figure out what is happening. I hope they do so quickly.

He could have a disease of growing puppies called HOD, or panosteitis, or could have a fracture or dislocation. He could also be weak or neurological causing abnormal walking. Hello. This pup has a deformity that involves the joints of the rear legs. You should have your veterinarian assess the puppy immediately and see if there is a way to tape or wrap them to help. This will probably not correct in its own without some type of support wrap and physical therapy and even then it may not get better. Please have your vet examine the puppy ASAP. Congrats on your new puppy! It could be that Peanut has a congenital deformity causing the shorter leg. I would have her seen by a vet for a physical exam and x-rays. If it isn't causing her any problems, then it may be nothing will need to be done for it, but the vet may discuss surgical options that may apply to help with the leg. Without seeing it in person, I can't say for certain if anything needs to be done, but it's a good idea to have her seen by a vet. If she does have trouble jumping onto the bed and into your SUV, I would help her do that. Certainly there are dogs who live perfectly normal lives with just three legs, and Peanut may be one of those dogs that can live a normal life with one leg shorter than the others. You just have to adapt to her limitations, such as trouble jumping. Have her seen by a vet however to get their take on it. I hope this helps :-)

He could be smaller from lack of muscle. He may also be painful from his back which could cause him not to eat well so he isn’t growing normally. I recommend an exam with a Rehabilitation veterinarian or a veterinary acupuncturist. They are trained to treat dogs with pain and paralysis.
