What's this lump on my 6-month-old teddy bear puppy's skin?

Its hard to say for sure what that is on Teddy since I can't actually feel the mass. Based on how it looks and the condition of the skin around it (which appears normal in the pictures), I would wonder if Teddy has some sort of clogged pore or skin cyst. Often times a cyst will feel like a firm pea under the skin and they are not painful. Typically a clogged pore can be expressed and the material will be very thick. It will likely continue to refill over and over. Cysts and clogged pores are benign lesions but can get infected (so don't traumatize the lesion). The be sure, I would recommend to take Teddy in to see his doctor and have the mass palpated. If it looks more worrisome, the doctor will recommend an aspirate to determine the origin of the lesion. best of luck with Teddy!

In a young dog these are often a little cyst or a mass known as a histiocytoma. These may grow a little bigger, but eventually go away on their own after a couple of months. I think it would fine to just monitor this for now. If grows rapidly, or breaks open, or has any other dramatic changes, then it's best to have your vet examine Capone in order to definitively diagnose the cause of this and provide the necessary treatment. Pictures can be deceiving but it appears to be a circular, raised mass with a slight broken surface. In young pups a benign growth known as a histiocytoma can develop which resolve over time. All lumps should be checked physically by your vet to rule out other possible options such as infections , abscess or tumour

This lump in your puppy’s skin is probably nothing to worry about. It could be from an insect bite or sting or may be a reaction to a vaccine he had in that area. Keep an eye on it for now. If it becomes larger, painful, or red, then take him to your vet right away. Or if he starts acting lethargic, vomits/has diarrhea or stops wanting to eat, you should take him to be checked out. It is hard to tell from this photo but look closely where the lump meets the skin to be sure this isn't a tick attacked to the skin and full (they can fill and become paler/flesh colored). Look for tiny legs or a small head embedded in the skin. If that is not the case it may be a small skin tag. I would have your vet take a look st your dog's next puppy vaccine appointment (at this age he should be seen every 3-4 weeks). If the area becomes irritated or increased in size before then, a vet exam is needed.

There are numerous causes of lumps on a puppies skin. If Bella has been microchipped (this is usually done between the shoulder blades), it could be the chip you are feeling. Other causes are cysts, scar tissue, inflammation after a vaccine, and tumors. I would recommend taking Bella in to your local vet to have this lump evaluated. If it is her microchip, it is not a problem. If it is something else, your veterinarian can do a fine needle aspirate to try to get a sample of cells from this lump to determine what it is. This is not a painful procedure and similar to her getting a vaccine.

Hi there and thank you for posting this question. Pimple type growths can be a sign of a skin infection, mites, or even a tick bite reaction. If there is just one area and it improves daily then it is unlikely to be problematic. However, if you are feeling multiple areas, if you see fleas or ticks, or if it is not resolving then I would become more concerned.
