My puppy is separated from her littermate. Will she be sad? Symptoms?

Hello, congratulations on your puppies. Most puppies will adjust quickly to the change and this is most easily achieved by directing your attention towards them more. You can provide plenty of toys and play time to make Appa feel loved and comfortable. Spend as much time with her as possible as the ultimate reward for any dog is attention from their human companions. Appa may feel sad and look for her litter mates for the initial hours to day, but as long as she can receive the care and companionship from you, she will adjust well. Give a special new toy or some play time to to the howler when his littermate is taken away. Keep the littermate away for only 2 minutes, then put them back together. Repeat several times per day, slowly increasing the time that the littermate is gone. It may take several days or even weeks but this usually works well if done consistently. Poor pup! If she's feeling lonely, some things that can help mimic littermates include wrapping a warm water bottle or ticking clock in a cloth and letting her sleep with it. This can help mimic the warmth and heartbeat of a friend. Spending time socializing with her, and perhaps offering a fun toy or puzzle toy to help keep her occupied, or playing a soothing radio or TV station can help her to relax some and not feel so lonely. If she doesn't perk up, or shows any signs of illness in addition to this, ruling out any health issues with a vet checkup is also always a good idea.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your puppy. Your best option for the remaining puppy is to exercise her every day and focus on entertaining her with games and training session. Stick to a routine. Mourning is normal but should pass within a couple weeks. I hope this helps.

Time will be your best friend here. Dogs do not have memories like we do, and after about a week she should be back to her old self again. I am so sorry to hear about your puppy! You should think seriously about this before (or if) you decide to get another puppy. By the way, six weeks is too early to separate a puppy from its litter. They learn such important lessons as bite inhibitions from their littermates. I would suggest taking Luna to an obedience course so she can get used to being around other dogs . . . and so you can see how she responds to them. Finally, if you are deterined to get another dog, do not just bring the dog home, It will make Luna feel territorial against the "intruder." Instead, bring Luna to a neutral place (where she's never been before) and introduce them there. That way, Luna will feel as if she is bringing her new buddy home instead of feeling that the puppy is something to defend against. Good luck!

There is a possibility you may see a little depression in the dogs initially, but in my experience dogs tend to adapt and will probably bounce back quickly. If your parents are noticing depression in Rocky once he moves perhaps they could find a doggy day care where he could interact and play with other dogs occasionally.
