What's this red mark on my puppy's belly after playing post-spay?

Hello. Lily may have a mild staph infection on her belly, & these are very common in young dogs & puppies. Simparica Trio is an excellent product, so it is unlikely these are any kind of bites. If the red spots continue, you might ask your veterinarian for an antibacterial shampoo. This is often all that is necessary to clear up these mild infections & rarely do you need oral antibiotics . Hello, thank you for your question about Harley. Based on the photo that you’ve attached it appears that small area is a blood blister or forming bruise. If Harley recently had surgery it is possible that she is having a mild reaction to the surgical antiseptic used or that area is where one of the surgical instruments rested. As long as Harley does not super painful around the area I would recommend continuing to monitor the area. If it does not fade or go away in the next few days I would recommend having Harley evaluated by a veterinarian. Hope this helps!

The most likely cause is a suture reaction, similar to how the body tries to get rid of a sticker in your finger. However, an infection or a hernia are also possible. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by a veterinarian soon. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

It looks like a bit of suture reaction - this is very common and goes away on it's own. As long as there isn't anything coming out (like pus) from the area and it's not bothering her, just leave it alone and keep an eye on it. If she's lethargic, has poor appetite, is trying to lick it, or has any discharge, she should go back to the vet to see if she needs antibiotics or other testing. But 9 times out of 10 (probably even better than that) these need no treatment - it's just the body dealing with having something inside that shouldn't be there. The sutures will dissolve over the next month or so and the reaction will go away. I hope that helps and good luck!
