When can my puppy get his rabies shot after his 3rd vaccines?

My puppy is done with his 3rd round of vaccines how long should o wait for the next one (rabies vaccine) thank you!

Great question! I'm assuming Marcelino was given his third round of DHPPi (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza), and he will not need another booster of that vaccine until one year after the last one was given. As for this rabies vaccine, I would wait two weeks before getting that vaccine done. Good on you for getting his vaccines! I hope this helps.

I think it is better for them to be around 3 weeks apart actually. So I think this would be okay. Also, looking at his age, he likely needs one last set of distemper/parvo vaccine again after this set. I try to do distemper/parvo vaccines every 3 weeks until they are 15-16 weeks old to ensure they are completely covered.

Bailey is adorable! Thanks for including a picture. Puppies require a series of DHPP vaccinations, but that series does not need to be repeated. In general, we booster DHPP 1 year after the puppy series ends (so that would be now since it ended on 6/7/17), then DHPP is generally boostered every 3 years. Rabies vaccination is again boostered 1 year after it is given the first time, then every 3 years after that (depending your local regulations). Vaccine recommendations to partially depend upon his lifestyle and where you live. Also, that second vaccine should have been given in a 2 to 4 week window from the initial vaccine. If it was given later than four weeks after the first vaccine, he will need booster vaccines within a 2 to 4 week window. Assuming he was given the vaccines at the appropriate time, Kai should get another DHLPP and a rabies vaccine. If he gets groomed, goes to the park or has contact with other dogs in general, you may consider getting a kennel cough vaccine. Other vaccines are for Lyme disease and Influenza (dog flu). Your local veterinarian can discuss if these diseases are present in your area and what potential risk factors exist. You may be able to find lower cost vaccinations at a low-cost vaccine clinic or a vaccine clinic in general. You can generally find information online. When should my puppy get booster shots after a delayed start?

Great question! Cane will need to go back four weeks after getting his rabies shot for a booster. As for the combo shot, he will need to return four weeks after that initial shot to get a booster. Once he gets both of those boosters, then he will need to return in a year for another booster. The Bordatella and Lepto will both need to be booster in a year after the initial shot. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Linus. Based on the information you have provided, it doesn't sound like he ever finished his puppy series. The distemper-parvo combination vaccine (DHPP) is typically given every 2-4 weeks until the puppy is at least 16 weeks of age. The "L" of that combination is leptospirosis. That takes two vaccines to complete the series so this is likely fine. He should have a bordetella vaccine and depending on his lifestyle, influenza. I hope this information helps!

You can do either. Many pets are given all those vaccines at once and they do fine but you are correct that this does increase the likelihood of a vaccine reaction. If you want to be cautious, then separating the vaccines by a week is a good idea. It's never hurts to be cautious. I hope this helps.

My puppy got one DHPP shot. Does he need a full vaccine series?

The first vaccination by now will have lost all effectivity. So you are starting basically from the beginning. Your puppy will need three courses of DHPP as a basic core course of vaccinations. It will also need a rabies shot. These will need a booster after one year and then he will only need vaccinations every three years. If you only vaccinate once, the body will not make the specific antibodies necessary for the viral diseases covered, but will only initiate a general immune response. Only the second and third course will then entice the body's immune system to make specific antibodies. Vaccines are given in 2-3 week intervals.
